Elliot was their main passing threat. He stopped him getting into a position to receive the ball. It was textbook shithousing.

Joe being Joe nearly killed the poor kid in the process, mind.

That sprint and tackle first half was a moment where I turned to my mate, knowingly tempting fate, and said "that'll be a moment that at the end of the game that we will say won us the cup."

He looked at me like he wanted to scoop my eye balls out with his folded match ticket, but then we won the cup.

Iirc that was the first time I welled up. Knew then that something momentous was brewing.

It was a moment where I just went wild and started calling them every swear word under the sun then got a lump in my throat right after thinking "my fucking God"

It wasn't until the 85th minute that I actually started to believe it may be possible....and my bottom lip started to go. Was dented a bit when they scored. Hit the floor in tears when the whistle went.......then was just in celebration mode.

But when big Joe done his interview and that single tear went down his cheek it set me off again.

Cheered every tackle but more so everytime this guy ran back and tackled any player in red! He was like a raging bull!

That was the moment that confirmed the mood switch in the bar I was in, before kick off the Liverpool fans knew they would win it, but as time went on it started changing. When Joelinton did that, the pub was like 'Newcastle are the better team here, they might just win it.'

Think the moment for me was when Liverpool played their second or third wayward pass out to their left wing in the second half and it just went harmlessly out of play. I might have misinterpreted it but it felt like there were a few knowing looks that went around.

Yep. These are OFF it.

At that point I knew Liverpool could not win it. We could only lose it. They weren’t going to do with us with outstanding quality. Even the goal I think Willock gives them possession from a left footed cross when he should’ve just kept the ball and then Bruno loses it in the middle with Scar out of position slightly. It was a good goal but we kinda let them in. And a second would only come from us shitting ourselves.

I didn’t think we could beat Liverpool mentally but we did.  They didn’t think they could do it.

Fate was with us. Thought they missed Trent massively.

What a sliding doors moment this turned out to be

3 years, 3 months, 16 days between that and winning the cup. What a transformation of the club and Big Joe. We've had some cult heroes over the years, but this team has 5 or 6 of them already.

That was beautiful.

there was a tackle or block he did at the other end and celebrated it in front of Liverpool fans. Class

 Bar went mental every time he did something. He was the tone setter.

To be honest as much as I might have felt things were going our way, as soon as Chiesa scored I braced myself for the inevitable equaliser and cum fest by the commentators. Couldn't believe that final whistle when I heard it.

Missing Trent would have made no difference whatsoever.  We dominated them from the first whistle to the last.  Oh and we were missing Botman, Hall and Gordon.

We didn’t actually miss anyone - everyone playing was brilliant to a man and played to their strengths. We just needed more quality off the bench when we tired.

All Liverpool’s weaknesses were on display.  Without tent there’s not an impactful passer from deep.  None of their attackers outside of Salah is a constant threat

or real top quality. They looked tired.  It’s not a big side etc.  we exposed them.

You can go through more or less every player's performance yesterday and bring yourself to tears thinking about it like, that's before getting onto the midfield as a unit and the team as a whole. Love every single one of them, but I think Joelinton's performance was maybe the one that represented everything the most.

It played a factor. Quansah basically offered nothing going forward and Salah nothing going backwards and Livramento and Barnes were able to double team both in each direction. If TAA had been on the field that wouldn't have been so easy to pull off.

Absolutely, although the way the lads played I would have still liked their chances.

You can see how they’d be in big trouble next year if Salah, Trent and Van Dijk all leave. They’d be going for free as well so no money coming in to replace them.

At 42 million, we will have had him for 9 years when his contract expires. Thats 5 million a year spread over his transfer fee to that point. Hes been a bargain really, given his importance and longevity.
