Rafa was bang on with this fella he thought he was absolute shit and he really is

40 fucking million man on a striker who has no attributes a striker should have hes not even anywhere near as good as the Hoss or Shola

We have to play Gayle or Muto up front as we simply cannot sustain this whole our forwards cant score model. Our defenders or midfielders cant keep bailing them out and it's likely our top scorer this season may only have 6 to 8 goals and not be a forward and that's unacceptable especially after spending 80m on 3 forwards

Would like to see him play on the left with Carroll up top at some point.

Might see that this upcoming weekend with ASM likely out.

Almiron left, Joelinton right?

We all know it’s going to be a straight swap for Atsu though, Almiron still right wing-back.

We’ll be lucky to get half of the money back for him at this rate though. Guessing his wages will be higher than what the sort of clubs in Germany would pay too. Awful signing. When you think a replacement will cost £20-30m as well he’s been a massive let down. Should have just paid the £16m for Rondon, given Rafa the deal he wanted and backed him. Add 5-6k to the crowd, more shirt sales, etc we’d probably be similarly off financially and on the pitch.

We don't know the real transfer value - allegedly £40 but who knows? There is something seriously, seriously smelly about it though. Joe was a second rate striker in the Bundeslega with a poor goal scoring record.

Why would Mike Ashley - who hates paying anything - pay this sort of money?? Apparently Rafa felt he wasn't good enough and worth a fraction of what we paid for him.

Joe is blatantly a poor striker. 1 goal in how many games? His performances are little short of shocking. Why Bruce perseveres with him is beyond credibility.

So my questions are:

What did we REALLY pay for him?

How much of this did agents get?

Did any of it find its way back to Ashley?

This transfer smells, and very badly.....

Ashley has made sure the club have spent jack shit over his time here. Then all of a sudden a £40m outlay is handed out on one player??  The only way that deal went through is with some personal gain to Mike himself. The whole deal is dodgy as fuck and so out of sorts on how the club has been ran the last 12 years. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

Yep, I think this is obvious to just about everybody.

He must have come free with 40m worth of SAP subscriptions. The deal is  very very dubious. You dont pay 40m for a striker who cant shoot or score or do anything a striker does

May as well have kept the Hoss as hes miles better than this spud

God anyone who is comparing him to Joselu, Riviere needs their heads examined. He's been shocking in front of goal but his general hold up play hasn't been too bad. There's clearly a player in there but he is NOT and never has been a striker, especially not a lone forward.

It's frustrating to watch him run at 60/70% and then realize a second or two later that he needs to run faster only to be a bit too late or get caught. Didn't watch the Southampton match, but noticed it in a lot of his earlier games. Even against Sheffield United when he came on after 72 minutes. No excuse to conserve energy when you've only got 20 minutes to play. Just lazy.

Steve's friends at the Chronicle said it's legit. Steve saw how good Joelinton was and knew he couldn't waste an English second to authorise the move.

Must be true then. If there was even the slightest whiff of money changing hands under the table, our local press have a fearsome reputation for hauling big shot kingpins over the coals. Ashley would have been begging for mercy once Ryder and Edwards started grilling him publicly.

Why can't he do this for us?

Goal #1 was what i was hoping i'd see more of, and when he's been on some breaks with the ball, i was really expecting him to actually drive with the ball and make a move and shoot. He takes like 3-4 too many touches or lets the defenders close in too easily.

Not giving up on this guy yet.

Not until we have games where we control the match more and he's not spending most of the time closing down and then having to fight defenders in isolation to hold the ball up.

We've hardly put together any decent play to create chances since he's been here.

It's all such a shambles.

None of those clips is he facing a 50 yard long ball with at least one centre-half up his backside and a holding midfielder nibbling at his toes if he does manage to bring the ball down.

It is a shambles and we have so far failed to control ANY match. We are unlikely to do so either.

So after 16 games with a grand total of 1 goal, how much longer do you give him? He's paid to score goals. He doesn't. He doesn't even look like he's likely to either.

I'll let you in on a secret...we didn't spend £40 million (or whatever was put out there) on this donkey. It's probably closer to £20 million. Still too much mind.
