Ikon
So have we officially wrote him off? Personally I haven't, unless he has to play under Bruce for too long, and the same thing goes for the other players.
VanDamme
So have we officially wrote him off? Personally I haven't, unless he has to play under Bruce for too long, and the same thing goes for the other players. I don't think Bruce has anything to do with the lack of Joelinton's current talent or his future prospects. Bruce has played him far too many times for my liking and so has had many opportunities; game time and within the games I have seen. Don't forget Benitez only rated him as a £20 million player (and Rafa's description of strikers was that at £20 million you only get a handful of goals a season)! Ikon
Well, I don't see him playing or proving himself as a "striker" either. I also think that Bruce's lack of management/coaching quality will hinder many of our players, at least compared to a quality manager. How is a player going to be playing to the fullest of his potential in a non functional team?
Menace
You can blame Bruce's lack of management skills for this guy not being impressive - but he can't even do the bloody basics right. Every time I've seen him take a shot he looks like he's bricking himself. He's a 1 in 4 striker, so why am I not surprised he's shit.
Kanj
He looked his best after he nearly scored that volley. He then started playing with urgency and aggression.

Im not blaming Bruce for Joelinton being as bad as he has been so far! I just think there's a player in there who within time might prove himself to be quality further ahead, even though I doubt that'll happen under Bruce as he's being played as a central striker in a non functional team which won't exactly help him in the long term, or at least not make it easier for him. TRon
Can’t wait to see the profit Ashley & Charnley make from Joelinton Idiots. They've probably already made it tbf.

Sean
Under Bruce and in this setup? No chance. He's going to be great under the next guy though? I said after 2 games max he has a heart the size of a pea. Seen nothing to suggest otherwise since then. Also haven't seen a great deal of talent. Not the best combination. Raconteur
Glad he got an extended go out wide - although it must be said he spent a lot of time through the middle. Someone not knowing he’d played there a bit might be forgiven for thinking he looked like a central striker shunted out wide but still trying to play the way he knows. So, if he’s not a striker and not a wide man, what is he? EDIT: “Glad” in the sense that people won’t call for it any longer...

Ikon
Despite playing in a more natural position he's not gonna go from absolutely zero confidence to his best in one game where the team plays shit. Not saying he will become class but things aren't always as simple as some might think. I can understand why some people have written him off, but I haven't. Having said that, I can't see him given a long enough of a run in a non striker role.
TRon
I still think he's got some qualities, but you won't see them until the ball is played to feet. Insisting on signing him, then bringing in a manager who has absolutely no idea how to construct a style of play was a recipe for disaster. But when you have people like Charnley making the decisions for a cunt like Ashley, this is where you end up.
KaKa
Imagine what his life must be like playing in this system. Earlier on he was far more consistent in bringing the ball down holding it up and dropping it off, go back and watch the games, you can see his effort and desire has waned now and continues to do so. In the instances he does successfully hold the ball up, drop it off, and get forward what actually comes of it? Absolutely nothing. Some other plonker on the team loses the ball or delivers a poor final ball time and time again. The guy was brought in as a striker and wants to score goals for the team. Per game he currently averages less than one really good chance to score. The guy is getting more and more demoralised.
xLiaaamx
He's got the worst job in football. Striker for Newcastle under Bruce.
Cronky
He's done okay, considering he's had to feed off scraps. Our main problem is our inability to play the ball on the deck, from the back through the midfield. That's our big limitation.

Menace
To think Rondon would've cost a fraction of this guys fee. Great sell on for Joelinton btw - I predict what, £10M?
Kanj
Nah Menace, when it suits Ashley’s agenda they will add in all these other costs. Rondon’s tea, boots, vitamins etc.
