Glad he got an extended go out wide - although it must be said he spent a lot of time through the middle. Someone not knowing he’d played there a bit might be forgiven for thinking he looked like a central striker shunted out wide but still trying to play the way he knows.

So, if he’s not a striker and not a wide man, what is he?

EDIT: “Glad” in the sense that people won’t call for it any longer...

TBF should have an assist to his name if not for that GAYLE miss.

One good deed does not a saint make. He was pony for the other 89 minutes and 45 seconds...

Despite playing in a more natural position he's not gonna go from absolutely zero confidence to his best in one game where the team plays shit. Not saying he will become class but things aren't always as simple as some might think. I can understand why some people have written him off, but I haven't. Having said that, I can't see him given a long enough of a run in a non striker role.

I still think he's got some qualities, but you won't see them until the ball is played to feet. Insisting on signing him, then bringing in a manager who has absolutely no idea how to construct a style of play was a recipe for disaster. But when you have people like Charnley making the decisions for a cunt like Ashley, this is where you end up.

Imagine what his life must be like playing in this system.

Earlier on he was far more consistent in bringing the ball down holding it up and dropping it off, go back and watch the games, you can see his effort and desire has  waned now and continues to do so.

In the instances he does successfully hold the ball up, drop it off, and get forward what actually comes of it? Absolutely nothing. Some other plonker on the team loses the ball or delivers a poor final ball time and time again.

The guy was brought in as a striker and wants to score goals for the team. Per game he currently averages less than one really good chance to score. The guy is getting more and more demoralised.

He's done okay, considering he's had to feed off scraps.

Our main problem is our inability to play the ball on the deck, from the back through the midfield. That's our big limitation.

Typically forgiving of the total shite served up by this wretched football club. Define 'okay'.

To think Rondon would've cost a fraction of this guys fee.

Great sell on for Joelinton btw - I predict what, £10M?

Morelos would have probably been £10-15m cheaper.

From that video I can see how his size and movement can be deceptive to the PFM — he moves and is built like a target man but anyone who has done even an ounce of Dennis Wise scouting sees he’s more of an attacking midfield player who likes to set plays up. Strange transfer, we didn’t even need someone like that, unless it was as a Perez replacement with Rondon staying up top — so yeah, no thought given.

Same old story, he’s been bought so he be sold for a profit in a couple of years. It’s been the same for years, players bought without any understanding of how they benefit the team, they’ve been bought to benefit the balance sheet.

Also very sceptical of the fee we paid for him and the fact that he and ASM share the same agent and we’ve bought the pair of them for circa £60m in one summer. Rabbit away.

House of Fraser type purchase. Glorious to see fatso lose at least 20 mil on this gamble

He won't lose a penny. NUFC will. If anything he's probably already made money off it. These agents he keeps doing favours to are probably doing him a few favours as well.

The way he looks in that video he is playing with about a million percent more urgency and intensity. Nothing timid about that player there. Dribbles with intention, passes with purpose, shoots the ball believing he will score.
