Gallowgate Toon
He isn't our best player, like. Most talented, yes, but Wilson is currently a level above everyone else in terms of what he brings to the side.
Rafalove
Not sure about that. Wilson is very good though.
bowlingcrofty
Think he’ll come Into his own once we have a competent full back behind him, so that the opposition can’t double up on him every time he gets the ball.

What a luxury of a player to have to build an attack around. I'm hoping he's the cherry on the top under Howe as opposed to how he was our only Plan A under Bruce, give it to ASM. He'll be the Jordan Ibe Howe never got.

They have at least 3 maybe 4 players on him now when he gets the ball, if we even had one other creative midfielder for them to worry about that they wouldnt get away with that Edited November 8, 2021 by olliemort
Rich
Time to nut up and stop sulking about Bruce. He’s on the cusp of greatness here, hope he doesn’t fuck it up like Hatem did. Happily, I don’t think he will, even though his life is going to be very, very different from today onwards. He should be doing everything in his power to still be our talisman a year or two from now, and a regular in the France squad.
buzza
Nail on the head there with the reference/comparison to Hatem... The talent is there and he could become one of the best players in the prem, but he needs to realise that a great player is one who gives their all (100%) to the team every game. He cannot shy away from the hard yards, that is one of the base pillars of team games; attitude, hard work and enjoying the game!!!
prefabtoon
he is reported as saying he wants to be a regular in the french team. He needs to get the Bruce chip off his shoulder. and knuckle down under Howe, No more 3 days a week training. GWN
Fuck the hard yards shit . We need him up the pitch taking players on and scoring goals . Ginola was similar , a legend , didn’t want him chasing around in front of our defence , fuck that , if we are to get out of this he’s the man . black_n_white
Definitely been off his game since Bruce went. Be interesting to see how He responds to Howes training routines and staff. Seems he had it easy with Bruce in charge.
ElDiablo
He posted a few positive bits about the takeover didn't he? Did he really think Bruce was going to stay after that? His form dropping off is a worry, I'd be surprised if it's anything to do with Bruce though.
Elliottman
Looking forward to Howe getting a hold of this lad and hopefully being able to get the others to create some room for him.
Guest HTT II
The key to ASM is finding his best position and not having him have to do so many defensive duties as he’s an attacking player and I’m of the belief you defend from the front forts by attacking first, that and he needs better players around him. Smal
Maybe, just maybe, his downturn in form has absolutely nothing to do with "sulking about Bruce" ( ) and everything to do with the ridiculous way we set up in the last three games with the whole team apart from him camped 10 yards from our goal? olliemort
Why would he be pissed off about Bruce if he wants to get in the French squad, wont be getting picked when hes in the championship. Im a big fan but he is a bit off that french squad at the moment

Smal
Like, did people really expect a professional footballer to come out and say bad stuff about the previous manager? It just doesn't happen. Get over it.

Different game now though, all the best teams have no passengers. Wouldn't want him constantly running back in fullback positions but definitely needs to put more of a shift in than he has been. We're not anywhere near being one of the better teams at the minute though. ASM has been isolated up top under Jones, playing in a system that's designed to sit back and soak up pressure for 90 minutes. Granted, it hasn't stopped Wilson from putting a shift in but everybody's different to some extent. ASM will come good again, he's out of form - nothing more nothing less. If we have a Wilson and ASM playing well we'll survive.
Thorpinho
If Howe can form a relationship with asm then i'm confident he can coach him to be a much better player in terms of his positioning. It is very obvious that oppo teams deliberately foul him when he tries to transition and counter around the half way line, and that they fear doing so in the final third. I'd just have him switching wings throughout the game and to be the guy who receives the pass from transition and not other way round. Almiron bringing it out would be better, similar to what Jonas used to do. My only fear with ASM is that he doesn't like strict coaches, and i suspect thats what g jones has been doing. Up to Howe to see how he handles that aspect to get the best out of him mentally.

I agree totally and it's probably the lack of service, frustration and confidence also but I'm sure his energy will improve, just last few games he's looked leggy but as you said I'm sure he will pick up

I don't know much about Howe but he appears to be in the latter camp. That's why I liked his "not criticism just different" comment.
