If he had a bit more fortitude I'd be fully on board

If he gets 2+ semi-serious injuries next year i’m fully on board of letting him go.

He did more in 20 minutes than Almiron did in 70 minutes but I don't see his thread bumped with this 'not good enough' and 'sell him' shite. Some people just have this weird fixation with ASM.

I wouldn’t be upset to see both upgraded in the summer.  I doubt we will, though.

I did much prefer HBA and I understand the frustrations with ASM’s constant injuries.

But it feels like we are all doing what Pardew did with HBA, when it comes to ASM. Not getting something from him, despite only getting a 20-30 minute cameo and he’s always the scapegoat. Not the fucker that was on before him and also achieved fuck all from out wide in twice the amount of time.

He’s an unpredictable, low percentage flair player. His game really hasn’t changed that much over the years. I don’t fully understand the shift in opinion with ASM.

I guess the change in system and success? We used to rely on him under Bruce, we barely picked up any points without him he was pretty much a one man show in a tactic less side. Now we are well drilled and successful and play as a unit. His flaws are a lot more noticeable and we rely less on his individual brilliance. When you are down the bottom you can afford the star player a run in the side to get sharp and back to his best but it's a lot harder when you're fighting for a champions league spot.

Feel for him as he's trying to adapt and putting in effort but it's hard when he's constantly injured or unfit and having to make up for it in short cameos.

Weird comments in here. He’s got to be starting in the remaining games if he’s fit. It’s a better balance for the team, he’s a genuine threat - even yesterday despite being off pace on a really heavy pitch.

That Isak LW experiment needs to end.

Also if they offside goal is given and we go 3-1 up the people that are desperate to jump on him all the time are saying absolutely f all about his performance. A Leeds equaliser shouldn’t shift the narrative.

He’s really not a player who benefits from being in and out of the side. His injuries are the major issue with him. If he’s going to pick up niggling injuries multiple times a season then he’s just not going to work for us as he always comes back a yard short to begin with and rusty with his link up play

Saw something on twitter which made a very good point.

When he plays he makes the opposition full back unable to sit high up the pitch, as well as often causing defenders to double up on him which obviously creates space elsewhere for us.

Even if he's not playing well he seems to cause more panic for the opposition than when Isak or Joelinton plays there.

Keep him as we won’t get much for him anyway. Hopefully some sort of specialist can improve his fitness and at least make him a bit more reliable for next season.

Sign one top class ready to go wide player along with a young diamond like Arda Guler and our options are looking pretty good out wide. Especially if Gordon can start showing next season that he’s worth anywhere near 45m.

Do we really need another winger? We already got ASM, Gordon, Almiron and Murphy who are pure wingers. On top of that we got Joelinton, Willock and Isak who can fill in when needed.

There is a lot of other positions we should prioritize.

Left back we only have Burn who is playing out of position and has been looking shaky lately and Targett who clearly hasn't shown enough to Howe that he should play, when he did it looked bad tbh.

Centre back we need a young talent who can fill in and eventually replace Schär over time. Same with right back and Trippier. I know we got Ashby, but perhaps aim a little higher than someone who has played 1 premier league game in his career.

Centre midfield we only have 4 players to fill in 3 positions. Need atleast a couple in here.

We 100% definitely need a top class wide player. I see Almiron  and Murphy as squad players at best. Despite their seasons. ASM isn’t reliable fitness wise. I would go for one transformational wide player and one youngster

I’d sell Almiron if a decent offer came in tbh

Agree to disagree then.

Wouldn't say no to a top class reliable winger, but they dont come cheap and I think we should prioritize other positions this summer.

Fair enough. I just think and am 100% certain that we should and will sign one. But also get the other important positions solved. It doesn’t mean that we won’t fix other weak positions too. Pretty sure Howe knows that Miggy and Murphy won’t be long term 1st team starters.

Getting in two wingers when we've recently spent 40m on one and have 4 first team wingers competing for 2 spots (and now also competing against Isak it seems) is crazy  Besides keeper it's the last position we need to strengthen imo.

We could do with a proper backup GK tbf.

We'll need to sell a winger to get one in.
