If the guy finds any kind of deal where he plays more than a handful of minutes I'd be amazed. Wellbeck is in a different league and Spurs would be insane to go anywhere near him. Sometimes wonder if we're talking about the same guy. I disagree, but we never see him fit enough to debate, he was being selected for England while Welbeck wasn't even in people's thoughts. I do think he'll get offers, you'll be surprised, even though you disagree. People base everything on his fitness issues, he's been fit a while, but can't get anywhere near the sharpness because he's behind the best current striker in the world. huss9 Posted Monday at 19:12 Share Posted Monday at 19:12 after watching the video - i wonder if Eddie wants to keep him on to help him with his issues off the pitch. just being a bit protective over him. he's said often enough how much he actually loves callum. You can't keep a player just because they have mental health problems, the club should come first. The club can help Wilson off the pitch in anyway he needs, but not to give him a new deal. Surely we have enough money to have a good summer this time. 7 hours ago, Tiotes Witch Doctor said: He's even said himself he's not expecting big signings through the door, could be a smokescreen of course. UEFA’s PSR rules dictate that you can only spend 70% of turnover on football-related costs - wages, transfers, fees. Qualifying for the CL should mean that our turnover is around c£380m, not allowing for additional commercials. So under UEFA regs we’ve got no wriggle-room - assuming we’re looking to adhere to those. More importantly, the PL extended the old rules by an additional season - meaning under PL rules, we’ve got quite a bit of headroom (current amortisation + wages = c.£300m). The new rules which are now supposed to come in next along with the UEFA rules This is problem when football is administered based upon completely different standards
The College Dropout Posted Monday at 22:07 Share Posted Monday at 22:07 Massive fan of super Cal. But he’s regressed substantially. People comparing him to Welbeck of today, Welbecks close to the same nuisance he’s always been. Strong, athletic, hold it and link it. He’s at worst 80% of the player he was - at least for an hour. Wilson looks half the player he was. The pace is gone. He can scrap a but that’s it. it’s one reason to get Mbeumo - he’s a genuine option at ST. We do need someone else when Isak isn’t fit. alexf Posted Monday at 22:12 Share Posted Monday at 22:12 This might sound harsh but I also wonder if the only reason he managed to stay fit is because he wasn't playing many minutes. His body was never really stress tested other than maybe the Arsenal game and he seemed to run out of energy after about 15 minutes. I wish him well and think he could be perfect for a newly promoted team for example, if he was able to play and get his sharpness and rhythm back. I just think as soon as he goes back to trying to play 90 mins week in and week out, his body will fail him again.

However for the older players we've seen playing for us for years I reserve the right to disagree. We've all seen and analyzed Wilsons performances this season, and it is absolutely valid to question and critique it if he is indeed given a new contract. He'll just be an ineffective hindrance to younger players getting a chance when Isak is injured or rested. If Wilson stays, we know he is playing. Howe is too loyal to the older tried and tested players, even when its painfully obvious they are way past it and younger players behind them would be a better option simply because they actually can run. As far as I can remember I didn't want Burn playing at left back. Never had an issue with him at CB. Haven't been very critical of Trippier either. Feel I've been pretty consistent in wanting him to stay here beyond his playing career because of his leadership qualities.
Bimpy474 Posted Tuesday at 00:27 Share Posted Tuesday at 00:27 I love Callum but something i noticed in the last few games, he was reacting to balls forward, not already on the move. That's when you're seeing the decline, a yard off it. however as someone else has said, if Eddie thinks he still has a role to play then I'm not questioning Eddie's judgement. He sees Callum everyday and knows him better than anyone. By now we should have all learnt not to doubt Eddie.

He knows more than us sure, but he also is a human with human flaws who does mistakes. What a boring forum this would be if we couldn't question people with more knowledge and expertise. elbee909 Posted Tuesday at 01:11 Share Posted Tuesday at 01:11 My guess is that it was an appearance based contract extension and Wilson's ego won't take that so he'll go.

bobbydazzla Posted Tuesday at 06:11 Share Posted Tuesday at 06:11 (edited) If we were exempt from PSR rules like Chelsea are then we could have a huge squad and keep someone like Wilson around just for his vibes But we’re not exempt, so every player with a squad place needs to contribute and every penny we spend on wages needs to represent value for money Wilson could drop down to the Champo, bag goals for a couple of seasons then sail off into the retirement sunset on a high Edited Tuesday at 06:11 by bobbydazzla
