Callum Wilson set to be out for around 8 weeks with new hamstring injury (Howe)

Maybe this news has affected our transfer targets list? Thought we’d spend big on 2 players; a cb and a rw. We’ll need to adjust now and split that budget to include a decent striker now. Frustrating but all too predictable.

Be a bit worrying if we weren't looking for a striker and this is what sets it off mind. Would be insane to go into the league again with just Isak and Wilson.

Why would he do this? He's ruining his career and a chance of a new contract.

Such a weird post.

His career is ruined already. He's now just topping up his pension.

He won't be passing a medical anywhere else.

Can easily see it changing from "opener" to "end of August" to "after the international break" before he plays.

Not sure we've got much choice if we can't sell Wilson. We'll probably just have to use him this season then he'll leave on a free.

I won't even bother speculating we can sell him in January as what are the odds he'll be fit?

We should do like Tottenham with Ledley King. Just don't make him train, save him for matchdays.[emoji38]

Basically like we have done the last 2yrs ?

I think he has been doing way more training than what Ledley King did in the last 5 years of his carreer.

Got to just set up for the season as if he isn’t ever going to be available, no bugger will buy him now, he needs to be third choice going into the final year of his contract

It is a bloody shame, I love the bloke as a player - a real old school no.9, absolutely is the part in that famous old shirt when he is fit.  But he’s never fit for more than a few games.

You're talking about a player who's spent about as much of his professional career in rehab as he has on the pitch.

This shit doesn't faze him. He's got a bona fide contract after all. They have to pay him.. sore tit? "Sick pay!" - bit of a back strain? "Sick pay!"

Don't forget the obligatory Insta post to say how devastated he is and that he'll be back soon.

Callum Wilson is as much of a problem as his injuries are. Now wait and see, he'll be back when the window closes and then he'll pick up something new when the January one is about to open. He's just running down the contract which may have an automatic year extension clause.

That'll bring him up to 34 going on 35... just in time for retirement and then a lucrative tv pundit career with that lovely smile.

Or am I being cynical?

You're being cynical.

Time we learned. Cut bait and release. Give it up as a bad job and move on.

We had the same with Owen. (Yes CW is a far better human being and someone who does at least attempt to look like he wants to play for us)

Point is, talented on the the pitch is great, but what's the point when you're never available to be on the pitch?

Might as well use a reserve or buy someone with a decent fitness record

How many times now have we heard that a Wilson injury may affect our transfer business. It’s ridiculous. He’s into his 30s and this isn’t going to change. Great player, but can’t be relied on and we need players we can rely on when our squad isn’t as big as those at the top.

Yeah, no one going to buy him are they.

I still maintain he's perfect for the Saudi League. The less intense pace should help reduce injuries and he's still a big enough name to be attractive to them. It's less than 2 years since he was in the England squad for Qatar.
