It amazes me that Jimmy Greaves is outliving all these guys. Probably my Dad’s favourite player of all time, and despite being an alcoholic for decades he’s still going and has now been married to the same woman for 63 years. Fair play.

Jack Charlton, Norman Hunter, Trevor Cherry and now Terry Cooper gone within the space of about a year.

Cooper was one of the first to figure out that a left back could contribute more than just marking the opposing right winger.

Peter Lorimer as well.

Club..

Muller: 485 goals in 555 games

Greaves: 382 goals in 579 games

Well, I stand corrected, great numbers all the same by both!

One of those who’s numbers don’t seem to be real. Obviously before my time but always looked the ultimate penalty box player in what highlights I have seen. Lent his name to some magnificent trainers too.

RIP.

Sad news

A true great in every sense.

loved the German side 72-76 efficient and ruthless in equal measure.

Still probably the greatest national team ever for me.

RIP to one of the greatest strikers of all time.

100% agree. And a true genuine guy too.......
