but why let him continue taking training if he's gonna be sacked?

no good for jones, the players, or the fans.

Don't suppose it matters if they are changing management soon. As long as he's gone for Sunday.

Just caught the end of Downie on SSN, sure he said Bruce was due to speak to the media today but the club has cancelled it.

He also said no decision made on his future yet.

edit- no decision made on future but still expected to lose his job before Sunday

Yes Downie just said that.

Just think. Downie and SSN and maybe the rest of the media are still going with the narrative that Bruce will be gone and Jones will be in charge. If Bruce has been told he'll be in charge, and that's the reason he is still here taking training and all, wouldn't he want to set the record straight? Announce proudly to Downie and the rest that he'll get his 1000th game against Spurs.

Why hasn't he? Coz he has not been told. Or maybe he has but he's hiding it for some reason.

Bruce will be told he's gone but the club want him to continue training in the very short term. I'm guessing if he doesn't then it's ground for us to sack him without compo. So he's coming in doing his final data for his payoff and we're trying to sort things out for him and his crew to go. Not a bad gig for the money he'll get for the minor inconvenience

It’s Tuesday. We play Sunday. They’ve likely given no indication to anyone how they’re leaning. They’ve likely watched every single match of ours since they decided to buy us. They’ve likely seen and read every survey and etc for him. They are not going to do anything that will cause legal action, they are likely trying to work out the payout (with his attorneys) and the back room staff too. They are likely hoping they have movement or a statement planned to discuss the next step of their plan/communication as such.

I still think he’s a goner by Sunday. The PR headache or the entire world watching and the 80% owner’s country and such too. They’ll just not want to deal with it.

If he’s not sacked, bummer, but No big deal. Big picture We are free from Ashley and soon to be free of Bruce and the new era is upon us.

Badly needed perspective. Well put.

Bruce been told he needs to leave and will get his compo but with conditions. The condition is, he'll have to go and get his £8million compo at the Saudi embassy alone without his Stevie gang.

The money is in a safe. He'll need to enter a password to retrieve it. The password is 'Bacon is Haram'. To exit the embassy, he'll have to verbally shout to the security guy at the exit door, 'ALL HAIL MIGHTY RAFA!!!' 3 times before the gates open.

Word is, he's having second thoughts about wanting the compo now, hence the holdup.

Well, if I was running the club I know what I would have done.  Ok , maybe I keep him on to twist in the wind a bit but the smart move is to put him on leave, go with Jones in the interim and then bring your own people in.  This is Steve Bruce we're talking about.  Steve Fucking Bruce!

If we sack the Steves that’s two thirds of our entire coaching staff gone. They’ll need to put plans in place to actually keep everything ticking over in the interim.

There really is no point in sacking him yesterday if you need a few days to work out who you’re replacing him with. If the situation goes on for weeks then that is a different thing entirely. Probably a lot that needs to happen before they can announce someone else. But I worry somewhat that the players know he’s toast and hope he’s gone by Sunday.

The consortium are obviously amazing and there is a real possibility of good times ahead, but they shouldn’t be immune to criticism or have excuses made for them.

Ashley was rightly ridiculed when McLaren was turning up for work every day while we were working on Rafa in the background and everyone knew it.

How is this any different?

There is zero reason to still have Bruce in post, especially if the decision has apparently already been made to boot him before Sunday. Every day that goes by is impacting on our preparations for an important PL game.

All of this crap about “it takes time”, “contractual discussions” “they’re nice and wanted to meet him” etc. is all bollocks. You don’t have time in football for courtesies at times. Bruce has also shown us none since taking the post.

He should have been sacked at the weekend to give Jones as much time as possible to organise the team. Each day that passes is a massive early mistake.

What difference does that make if they’ve already made the decision to sack him? It’s been widely reported since the day they took over.

There’s not a single reason to still have him in post. There’s multiple reasons as to why it’s causing problems though.

A new and unique take on ‘Newcastle fans and their ridiculous expectations’.

How is it a ridiculous expectation to expect him to have been sacked after they’ve spent the last four days telling the media he’s going to get sacked?

Maybe you can give a reasonable answer as to why keeping him in post is a good thing which outweighs the many negatives?
