I’ve no memory of Obertan being anything other than shit but can’t remember all that.

Was class against Bordeaux in the UEFA IIRC.

Shola, Colback, Smith, Butt, S Taylor. They all spring to mind straight away

Obertan seemed to play way more than he should have. May have only been 10 games, TBH. But in my mind, I remember him regularly playing, often keeping HBA out the team and 10 games is probably too many.

I thought Butt was good for you

For a couple of seasons between 2006-08 he was alright, but he was absolutely appalling come 08/09 when we went down. Truly up there with the worst CMs I've seen for us; just way, way off the pace. Can remember him getting absolutely done by Peter Halmosi at home to Hull (infamous post-KK game) and giving away a penalty, right in front of me. He was so finished.

Stick the likes of a very past-it Smith, or a very past-it Geremi, or a never-PL-quality  Guthrie in alongside him and, wow, it's a wonder we didn't finish rock-bottom. Horrifying stuff.

Obertan had probably the worst end product I’ve ever seen and he knew it himself. So that when he had sprinted 30 meters (and he was fast) with the ball he basically stopped playing because he knew that was all he  could offer. Not a footballer.

Aye he had the odd good game. I can’t remember him ever having an inflated opinion of himself or seeing reports of him being angry at not being picked.

Aye, if anything, he seemed to think way less of himself than the King did.

Nicky Butt's body language had a way of telegraphing what he was going to do next. So he ended up making the pass that would have worked half a second before, but which was no longer on.
