Any chance Wigan will play a reserve team in the FA Cup final?

They'll get fined by the FA if they do.

Unless they get fined 50 million quid or whatever then that doesn't make a blind bit of difference.  I think they might do it if they get the points against Swansea.

results are unpredictable, we can't assume anything. Let's focus our energy on getting points from our own games and see where we sit going into the arsenal game.

I'd put serious money on 3 more points keeping us safe at this point. A win against a QPR team with nothing to play for would do it. It's tight, but I think we'll be okay.

Yes and yes, just got to batten down the hatches and pray for a result against WH/QPR. The players absolutely have to show a reaction.

Wigan will surely be resting key players against Swansea too with the final a few days later? There's no way they can go full strength three times in the space of a week?

This is the lifeline to be honest, makes it just enough less likely that they will get the wins they will (hopefully) need.

I think Wigan will pick up 7 points.

i think you're nuts.

No offence, but I really do. They'll get nothing like that.

Having that sort of GD swing against you is awful, but keep it in perspective, Wigan are way behind, and have to get the points.

Perspective isn't something we specialise in. Your victory tonight signals the end. Wigan are irrelevant.

They won't do either, they have a competent manager who won't use the FA cup as an excuse to rest players etc.  He'll put his strongest team out for both.

Enough to outweigh the incredible TV money for staying up?

points deduction?

No chance, I doubt there's even a law to allow that to happen.

It's a sad state for football in general if a team puts a reserve team out for a FA cup final.

It's never happening. This is the only chance of winning something meaningful for Wigan, their players and possibly Martinez. I wouldn't be surprised if the lot would take winning that cup over staying in the league.

 This, it would be absolutely ludicrous.

I suppose I don't know how I would feel as a Wigan fan (or maybe that should be "as THE Wigan fan hahahahaha").

Let me say if we put out a reserve team out for a cup final, I'd like to think the manager wouldn't get out of the stadium due to our fans going off it.

Na they couldn't penalise them in a different competition surely
