Really we need to go down for the sake of football. To show you can't treat the sport with absolute contempt and get away with it.

Imagine losing 11 off the belt to go down

What an achievement.

It'll be worse than under Dinnis in 77

Already is, we won a few cup matches in that run.

Blackburn already did that.

Saturday's loss to Swansea City meant that Newcastle have been beaten in each of their last seven league outings - a feat not managed since October 1977, when no less than ten successive top-flight games were lost.

Within that 1977 sequence however were three cup ties - one of which was won and the other drawn - meaning we actually only lost five in a row in all competitions then.

You know where this is going, don't you...

Defeat to Garry Monk's team meant that this current side is the first in our history to lose seven consecutive games in all competitions, surpassing a run of six reverses that was set during the 1936/37 season and equaled in both the 1963/64 and 1971/72 campaigns.

At this rate we may need to worry that Burnley and/or QPR can catch us too. Sunderland might not get to 35 points and we still could go down. It would only take a couple of results from one of those two and they catch us. QPR play us remember so that 3 points for sure.

Same thing that happened last time. It can't happen, it won't happen, there are worse teams than us, just need a point here, Hull have a tougher run in....and then we're down. You should have a pretty active pessimistic imagination when it comes to creative, initially implausible ways that this club can fail.

The squad is better than at least 3 teams below us. That's totally irrelevant. The "head coach" is more than capable of squandering an 8 point advantage in two months.

But I thought no other coach could have done better than Carver in this situation. Does not compute.

Fair play, man.
