Group D (Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Scotland)

Grealish and Saka playing really well. Kane looking more relaxed.

Still not convinced by the two man defensive midfield, but it's something Southgate believes in, so I can't see it changing.

The Czechs actually look like a good side.

Love Saka and love watching Grealish, proper throw back player who does have his faults and weaknesses, but he’s classy and there isn’t a player around today like him. Kane very very disappointing, he’s a great finisher/goalscorer and I’d back him 9/10, but he looks unfit, lacking in confidence and this system/style/game-plan/tactics don’t suit him. Dare I say it he’s been Mourinoed?

Feel this match is really damning of Mourinho.

Shaw has been out of his clutches for a while now but has really improved.

whereas Kane has regressed and there is no other Spurs player to be seen.

Kane just had one of his best seasons in his career and definitely improved his all round game under Mourinho. He's looked sluggish and unfit more than being a worse player now.

Full backs have been playing higher up and Shaw has been very good, but Walker isn’t playing the ball forwards or into gaps quick enough. If he kind of replicates how Shaw is doing down the other flank, we will rip them open. Rice has done fuck all on the ball, but he’s covering space and gals well and gives the CB’s some cover which is allowing the fullbacks to remain further up. And also allows Phillips to get more involved, we are desperate for an ACM though IMO through that middle.

Henderson on for Rice should add better switch of play on the ball right to left and forwards hopefully. Henderson often looks to play quicker more forward facing balls than not despite still remaining conservative in general. Howay England!

It's hilarious how the scoreline impacts upon the analysis of the game.

Without that goal, which stemmed from Saka running at people, Dixon et al would be panning England's movement. Because it's 1-0, they're watching 1970s Brazil here.
