Amazing turnaround, and a real achievement to finish with 49pts given what he (Howe) inherited.

If's and but's, but if we hadn't drawn those 3 games against Man Utd, Watford and Norwich at home when winning, then we'd have finished 8th with 55pts.

You also need to take into account that some of those losses came right at the start of Howe's tenure when he was cleaning up the mess he inherited; low morale, lack of training schedule, unfit players etc.

If West Ham had turned up it'd have been 10th

Not really, Brighton have similarly to us ended the season very well.

Last time we achieved a higher points total was the 5th season.

We equalled this points total in 2013/14.

Overall, what a fucking season this has been! I’m off to run my monumental transfer bath as these next couple of months are going to be unreal. Bring on August.

I’m not sure we’ve ever bettered 39 points after Christmas in the PL.

Got 41 points post Christmas in 1993-94, though that was a 42 game season.

44 points from 27 games works out at 62 points over the course of a full season. Man U got 58 this year and qualified for the Europa League. The football we've played under him has gone from one of the poorest in the League to genuine European form and he's also played City and Liverpool twice in that run too. From inheriting a shambles of a squad both on and off the park to punching our weight with the best in the division since he was appointed is phenomenal. Hasn't won anything but I can't see a manager who's performed better than he has given what he walked into.
