I'm not completely disagreeing but winning it at a canter, with Klopps side, in a year with very little resistance from Citeh or Arsenil just doesn't feel as impactful as some of the others IMO
BennyBlanco
Eddie for me as well. No new first team players for three transfer windows, massively hampered by PSR and coached the team to 2nd place. Done an amazing job. Slot had the squad in place and the money to spend to strengthen.

Pereira at Wolves has done well but that Wolves squad should never have been as bad as O'Neil had them Yeah, I wouldn’t criticise what they’ve done in any way, I’d actually be very positive about it on the whole, but it still doesn’t really put them in the frame for me. It’s slightly odd season, in that you can be fairly complementary about the majority of managers in the league. Obviously Ange and Amorim have been catastrophic, Pep poor by his standards, Maresca iffy (although probably satisfactory enough IF they make CL), but everyone else bar the bottom three, you’d be happy with to varying degrees. AyeDubbleYoo
It’s fairly pointless having the award shortlist if it just always goes to the team that wins the league. Apart from Howe I would give it to Nuno just to spite the Forest owner.
Checko
I'd give it to Postecoglu. Can't think of many managers who would have got Spurs to 17th. Impresive achievement.
54
If this was a season that was just another Man City win, it'd go to Nuno no question, but as it's Slot's first season and he has managed to win the league, it has to go to him really. I still think that title win feels underwhelming, and I can't really place why it feels that way, as it's a great achievement.
MagPar
Nuno for me,he's had Forest (one of the favourites to go down)near the top most of the season. Its only recently there's been a bit of a slide and they will qualify for one of the European competitions. A fabulous achievement. Slot came into a club with a ready made title challenging team so he's a no for me. Newcastle have lost to many games to mid level teams for my liking. We should have sewn up CL football before now. Bonus points for the cup win but making us wait until the last day of the season to see what European competition we end up in makes him a no for me. 3 Slot 2 Howe 1 Nuno

mouldy_uk
If it’s the premier league manager of the season, then surely the cup(s) have nothing to do with it? /pedant mode As mentioned above, seems crazy to even ask the question before the league is finished
Mazzy
If the Premier League Manager of the season is purely based on the league wtf is even the point of it, because you could argue that it should always go to the manager that wins the league. There has to be thought given to other competitions and situations the team has been through. Because genuinely if it's only the league then the league winning manager should get it every year. mouldy_uk
Slightly disagree. If it’s prem only, you could factor in plenty of other things - e.g, time at club, resources, previous finishing position, etc. Not saying that most voters put in that much thought

Bimpy474
I guess a manager can come from an over performing team, It's a subjective point of view. Imo, the Premier League Manager of the year is Slot, the points difference in his first season, and not really adding to Liverpool squad made it him for me. Overall manager of the year across all competitions is most definitely Eddie Howe. A trophy, league finish to be determined but looking good for 2nd to 4th. After being prevented from buying any proper first team players for nearly two season, because of cheating rules. It couldn't be no other than Eddie. Tiresias
There are always several perfectly reasonable candidates to be fair. I think it is reasonable to weight winning the league pretty heavily. He also won it at a canter, the fact we can plausibly be 2nd kinda proves that, however amazing an achievement that is for us, it's not the strongest league this year. Having said that if we do secure 2nd, I think that would be a fairly amazing season for Howe, I remember a lot of pundits prior expecting us to be 7th at best. He would be a worthy winner. Nuno to be frank also deserves it even just for achieving European football. If they take into account the cups, that of course strengthens Howe and I would argue he ought to win really, but it'll be Slot.

He's still won the league even though it's far from a classic side. I think however the fragility in the cups proves there is a long way to go, and I actually wonder if that and their tailof is more that while they didnt slump post klopp he has merely delayed it a bit

It's basically Klopp's team, and it's performed worse the longer the season has gone on. He can only really be judged on his own merit from next season. GavMcEl
Has to be howe whatever happens now in the next 2 weeks imo ? But if we some how manage to finish 2nd and win a cup in the same season, absolutely no way he you can look past him ? Ste
I do think not having a serious team challenging them for the title has helped Liverpool massively, mind. It's obviously a great achievement in his first season, but Arsenal and City have been nowhere near.
