So what is it, to big of a gap is bad, we want smaller. But smaller gap is bad, we want bigger? What the fuck

Got to say I'd be fucking lambasting Pardew for coming out with something like that. Hopefully he's just lying to cover up something he sees as a deeper problem. Assuming it's real.

So a break is good if we start getting results (Dubai), but it's not if we get beat and put in a woeful performance. Sorry Eddie that's just total bullshit

I genuinely think it can work both ways, but he did say it isn't an excuse mind.

There was no point in saying it. Palace had 4 days of rest, and they looked way more energetic. Would you rather have 4 days of rest than 11?

I think it depends. If you're on a decent run and full of confidence, you probably want the games coming more regularly. If you're not, the opposite.

It's post-match fluff and a bit of an odd thing to be getting upset about.

He's owned the performance and it's not like he's tried to blame it on the fans or out.

As I said earlier in another thread, if Palace had 11 days rest and we had 4 days, and the match went the same way as it did, we would be here saying they had more energy because they had more rest. Somehow it allways works in the opponents favour when we lose, and we are the victims of bad luck yet again.

As reluctant as I am to defend Pards, that wasn't his excuse. His excuse was that the Met wouldn't allow the game to be moved to Sunday after we played in Europe on Thursday. There isn't anyone in football who wouldn't side with him on that.

The Notting Hill thing was the Met's excuse for not allowing the switch.

We couldn’t compete with their central midfield of Wharton (who admittedly looks to have loads of potential) and Will Hughes, seriously, Will Hughes, who out pressed us, out fought us and generally did what he wanted. That pretty much sums it up for me, if you can’t nullify and bypass Will Hughes you’ve already lost.

If you read the whole interview though it isn't really an excuse.

I'm out.

So why even bring it up and talk about in hindsight that it wasn’t good. I mean just don’t talk about it if you don’t want it to look like an excuse

Weird quote by wor Eddie. Not like him.

Honestly think he probably reckons we had too many sub-standard players to carry out the game plan effectively, but doesn't want to say that publicly because it would be throwing his players under the bus. This is his way of protecting them IMO.

He's right about us not shooting like, it was driving me bananas last night. Every time there was an opening our lads took another touch or hesitated and the chance was gone. It was weird.

Quote

“We were trying to find a way to help the team,” he said. “We make substitutions and tactical tweaks, but whenever you talk tactically, it’s always about the attitude of the group, first and foremost.

“If you’re not quite where you need to be mentally, for whatever reason, then it doesn’t matter what you do tactically, you’re going to fall down. And I think that’s probably where we were.”

To be honest, this could be interpreted as throwing the team under the bus, if you didn't want to be charitable...

There was one moment where I was jumping because Longstaff didn't shoot. I thought that was a big chance. However, he would've had to shoot with his left, and I'm not sure I have ever seen him do that.
