A lot of words will be spilled in this thread but the main difference in that game is that their best player is genuinely elite and ours 1) aren’t as good as him and 2) were bad today.

 

Eddie needs a good look in the mirror but so do a lot of our players.

Tonali never takes set pieces which is baffling surely you use him and his knowledge of set pieces to benefit your team.

Just have zero faith that he's going to turn this around. There's no straws to clutch to or green shoots I can see like I could in Jan 2022.

 

We are worse than last season and much worse than we were in 2022-23. Zero identifiable patterns of play with the ball and we're almost in November.

Should have changed something before we conceded, Chelsea give us a good 10-15 minute warning and we suffered for it.

Looks like the cycle might have come to its end. There is always a stage where you just kmow players aren't as motivated or hungry as they were before. And unfortunately, managers will take the chop for it. As seems the case with Eddie and the players. Boardroom issues aside, dressing room.harmony and morale has just bursted and won't recover anymore until Eddie goes. Shame that but that seems the obvious outcome right now.

We need a CDM or at least one of the three needs to take that role and sit deeper. Burn being caught out on CM is not the answer.

I think he'll be gone this season and it'll be a mistake. We're not bad, we're just looking like an average mid table Premier League team, but we've massively regressed to that from one of the best sides in the league (due to Howe).

 

PSR had fucked us, as it was meant to, and replacing Howe in the recruitment department was necessary, but he needs a chance with a proper scouting network behind him.

Brighton - big money Gordon and Isak miss several great chances, 0 points instead of 3.

Chelsea - Pope let's a crap one in, and big money Isak misses one Xisco would have finished, 0 points instead of 1.

 

Don't think we are playing nearly as bad as some are making out, Chelsea sell a couple of hotels and spend £300m, we can only buy Osula. Still got the likes of Burn, Miggy and Murphy involved cos there's not really any choice.

We've been through this when we were shite. Players playing like shit is a tactics issue. Not too long ago that people were calling Joelinton hopeless.

We were trying to pay almost £70m for Marc Guehi and bidding £50m for Anthony Elanga in the summer, like.

 

And the signings made summer 2023 haven't particularly improved us either. We're consistently substituting the two big signings from that window, rightly or wrongly.

While that's true, the last 3 games have balanced out the half dozen or so earlier in the season where the opposition could have scored four or five each and we somehow pinched a result.

 

We are pretty much exactly where we deserve to be on the balance of the performances this season.

Do other assistants have that much imput during a game as Tindall does. I’ve never really noticed what others are doing.
