Find it hard to know what to write about him. Not just today but I find myself bouncing between two points of view:

If I’m feeling kind - He’s a great ambassador for the club, has a pretty decent record (overall) and was dealt a dreadful hand in the summer window. I desperately want success with him in-charge.

If I’m being cruel - Injuries are no longer excuse and we have an 11 that should be beating most teams. Tactically we are just rubbish. Beyond the high press, I just don’t see any plan and most of our players have gone backwards this season. Set pieces are shocking. Should we expect much else from a manager who has never won anything and looks well off the elite level?

Overall, I’d still back him in the January window but I’d be looking at other options if we aren’t top 6 at the end of the season.

That's a decent take. It's more difficult because compared to what we were used to, Howe has been such a breath of fresh air. He's intelligent, and as you say, the perfect ambassador for our club. It's difficult to imagine someone who would put more heart and soul into it, and you really can't undervalue that.

But he does seem to know only one way to set a team out, and if that doesn't work, he's lost. Losing an FA cup final to a rank Man U side was maybe more telling than some of us thought at the time. He's a good manager, just not sure he's got the tools to compete with the best.

Howe - 'it hurts - game wasn't free flowing. Happy with our defending. Isak took a knock to the hip and had to come off. Feels like a defeat, but it's a point on the road and it could be important by the end of the season'.

Bang on. Exactly where I'm at.

I wouldn’t want Eddie to leave unless we had someone we could be fully confident is an upgrade.

for me I’d go after Gasperini or Spaletti. Mighty be unattainable, but if we can’t get another manager of  that calibre then there’s no point, imo.

Still fully behind Eddie though and I don’t think we should even think  F getting rid until the end and f the season.

I don't want him out. He needs to accept things aren't working now. Need to see an improvement in the next month.

He needs to find a way to start Barnes and Tonali.

Unfortunately it seems pretty clear he's uncertain of how to integrate them into the team.

Or for some reason is unwilling to stick with them until they settle into the first 11 and build chemistry with the other players around them.

The indecision and confusion has been the worst thing for me.

I said earlier, I believe we have the players to compete/push but the performances haven't been unconvincing.

I've seen what we look like when it's flowing but that just hasn't been there this season.

1 shot all game, off target.

I'm sure it's nothing.

Bruce would have got slated for that patter.

I felt sorry for him after Monday and despite the second half being a shapeless mess where we created nowt, centre back and right wing were glaringly shit and I put more of the frustration/blame/whatever towards the board.

Those attacking figures today are absolutely inexcusable, though. To not lay a glove on a team right down at the bottom of the league with a fully fit first choice side (other than Botman) is really pathetic.

Sick to death of the crap set pieces and flat midfield as well. He's not helping himself shoving square pegs in round holes all the time by sticking with this system.

It does feel like we're stagnanting, and the lack of transfer activity is definitely a big part of why, but Eddie needs to be better and quickly or he'll be having Christmas and Boxing Day with the family at this rate.

Maybe just me overreacting but I think his time should be over if shit doesnt change soon. Its been ages since ive seen us been consistantly good.

Also dont see us ever playing a type of football that allows us to dominate most games with him. Which is what we should be aiming for. We only really excel at parking the bus and being good on counterattacks.

Not being able to get Tonali into a team where players struggle to pass to their team mates is a bit of an indictment.

I don’t get what he’s seeing in Gordon to consistently keep picking him. He’s been poor all season and maybe some time on the bench will light a fire under him.

Anyone think he lost the dressing room?

You would think that the way some of the heads seem to be down, but I don't think so. Maybe they don't all buy into the tactics though.

The 4-3-3 has been figured out by every team in the league. He needs to refresh us. Heard an interview with Glasner before the game and he pretty much said exactly what our formation was going to be, who was going to be playing where and what their individual roles will be for us.

It's awful man.

It's December and we don't have a settled first 11 yet, where everyone is clear on their roles.

Very bad sign.
