Howe will see the season out, and that's for the best. There's still enough points to play for to get into Europe with everyone beating everyone, but that's also part of the problem. We don't look any better than two thirds of the sides in the PL. I thought we were nailed on to finish 7/8th at worst, now I'm thinking 10th might be an achievement.

Achievement is the wrong word there mind. Would be a shit season if there were we end up.

We are not going to get ahead with a 60-year-old Italian manager.

What does this even mean? Is it the age or the nationality you have a problem with?

Hardly..we just want some signs of a consistent (good) turnaround and there's little evidence this season but it was excused last season due to injuries.

If we take Newcastle blinkers off, few outside can understand why he hasn't already been sacked and why we weren't  vocally calling for his sack at the end of last season

Maybe because we finished 7th with the worst injury crisis many have ever seen and despite that, played some great stuff and scored loads of goals? Then a travesty of a summer, boardroom upheaval, shocking transfers (or lack of) are all massively contributing factors. Would love to know which managerial wizard could wade through all that and have us top 5 without a hitch like. This season is a mess aye, but Eddie getting it in the neck from all angles is harsh in the extreme. He takes some blame no doubt but we're a bit of an incoherent mess on a few levels.

We finished 11th, 2 points off 10th in 2021-22. Finishing there 3 seasons and £300m later is anything but an achievement.

Absolutely pointless drifting to a midtable finish. If we can salvage something, do it now.

There's definitely been more bad performances than good ones. The league table tells it's own story.

In terms of the availables I think he’s what we need for the here and now. What’s his nationality got to do with it?

Eddie took us to top half after taking over when we were bottom 3. A feat never done before or since.

Then he took us to the CL. All while using a bunch of players the majority of the fans considered championship standard.

Now things have hit a bump its all doom and gloom and sackings.

On Wednesday he was widely praised.

Today people want him gone.

Football fans are fickle by nature.

Who are our competitors? We are closer to West Ham and Crystal Palace than Arsenal/Spurs.

Well I was thinking more of Brentford and Brighton, but we are on the same page.

Might also be that we picked up 2 points from the last four games and only Liverpool was against a fancied side.

Are you fuck   You’ve posted with a negative slant regarding Howe’s tactics and selections for ages.

It’s not about it being his first genuine bad spell for myself and many others I’m sure. But he is repeating all the same mistakes, performances by and large have been crap this season and there seems to be something fundamentally wrong with pretty much all of the players. How come so many are seemingly out of form at the same time?

He got a pass last season. Injuries were a genuine reason for a lot of it. But this season we seem to be even worse, less of an identity and usually terrible when making changes and tweaks mid-game.

I don’t want him gone. I love the bloke. I just don’t think he will suddenly turn this around. When the way we’ve played most the season (and last season at times even allowing for the injuries) don’t inspire any confidence.

Plenty are saying similar and it’s totally understandable.

Their leadership has been ace.

Im more concerned about our leadership than Eddie Howe (who is not doing a stellar job.  Don’t think he’s doing a bad job given the circumstances).

Leadership has fumbled the squad and the finances.  Sometimes indulging Eddie when they shouldn’t have.

Sure but when we start winning they will love Howe again.

Fickle.

Again most fans are. It's part of football.

He was his own worst enemy giving us Champions League so soon, and bringing us all memories forever with the PSG game.

Now everyone is expecting him, with his hands tied to keep providing that.

If i was forced at gunpoint to pick whether to back or sack? This would be the last time I'd still answer "back" after a disappointing result.

Needs to figure out a way to win the next 8 straight and move past this absolute clownturd of a run we're on.

No pressure

All of this is the result of us not building on the 4th finish - we should have been much more ruthless in the transfer market moving players on and using the money to upgrade.  But instead we handed contract extensions.

No one (well, one person who is widely regarded as a wind up merchant) is saying Howe hasn’t done a great job. It seems the only defence to people’s concerns is talking about how he done a great job in getting us to the Champions League.

At what point do people look at the here and now? The last 18 months rather than his first?

7th last season was about right for us.

I don't think our owners felt that and I don't think they will settle for anything less than European qualification through the league or winning a cup this season.

Which is probably part the reason PCP are no more.

I think this is precisely what the 'not fit for purpose' meant. He was right too.
