I don't see Miley making a big difference in those circumstances. Our only decent subs (chasing)

We weren't chasing in those circumstances. We were winning.

The lack of in game management is concerning. When we aren’t performing, it just seems that we plough on without any adjustments, until panic stations of course.

Miley should have been on far earlier and Botman should be starting every game when fit.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I don't think we played particularly well. We got ourselves ahead, we conceded a couple of poor goals today, never got full control of the game like we wanted to do. Very disappointing overall.

"I thought both halves weren't perfect for us. In the first half we got the lead but we rode our luck at times, I don't think we ever got control like we wanted to. Overall I didn't like the feel of us today and I feel we can do a lot better.

"It's the second home game in a row where we haven't performed and that's a huge frustration for us. That's two back-to-back games where we've been nowhere near ourselves.

"We just have to hold our hands up and say we didn't perform today. Athletically we weren't ourselves, all these things contribute to a disappointing day."

On whether home form is a concern with a game against Arsenal coming up:"I think the whole atmosphere and feeling will be very different on Wednesday night but it's another reminder that we need to be near our best to win games and it's another example of the quality of Premier League teams."

We definitely still rely too much on athleticism to win games (obvious when we haven’t been able to improve the team). We really need to try move away from this whenever we next manage to make signings imo.

We need a speedy partner for Botman. It’s always so concerning how slow our centre backs are, thankfully with Tonali deep they’ve got some cover. Big Joe at some stage needs to be replaced by someone more technical too.

Today was a real sickener like, had all the elements of the worst type of defeat. Slow play, poor control in possession, crap finishing, soft defending, reactive subs after pissing away a lead. It was pretty rubbish and Fulham weren't even particularly good, which makes it all the more galling.

Fulham did have bench options though, actual experienced forwards to bring on and refresh things and it made all the difference for them. We don't have the same options thanks to PSR and, admittedly, being poor sellers overall. Leaves us with an unbalanced squad that's looking stale and tired again, just like it was pre-Leicester in December. It's going to be this way for the remainder of the season, we'll be streaky and susceptible to poor displays and results. Still a lot to play for.

I was disappointed today for the first time in a long time

Could see the equaliser was coming, they had a number of chances and combine that with having Joelinton on a booking and reluctant to put a challenge in

I get he's reluctant to make personnel changes but should have at least done something tactically, whether that's go 5 at the back or have us sit a bit deeper so we don't get caught on transitions like we were

The second the inevitable equaliser comes he then changes it

But not going to get too carried away, if other results go our way then it might not be a disastrous result

If there is any scope to do so then the owners could help him by bringing in a player or two

Still better than playing players into the ground though (that didn't work last season)

Yeah. That is just making our genuinely good players ineffective and demotivated.

Find it hard to blame him for anything today. We've been on a great run but he hasn't been aided in the transfer window to give the squad more depth and options and eventually those first team players are gonna start to be run into the ground.

Fingers should be pointed elsewhere.

Well, he did sit and change nothing until we conceded, despite watching us get battered.

He is absolutely not blameless today.

What changes should he have made?

Forest don't seem to have that issue.

Why do we always have to hyperbole after every defeat? It's really tiresome. Stevie Wonder would tell you the performance wasn't great, but I feel like some people post on here just for the sake of posting. Shit performance aside, we're still just 6 points off 2nd place. Had someone offered you that at the beginning of the season with no signings you would've snapped their hands off.

Howe's not perfect, but its getting tiresome reading the same stuff after every defeat man.
