The most important game of the season was against Liverpool in the cup final, and we played this formation against Arsenal at the Emirates in January.

That's why I add that or "2nd most" with slash 😅

Although u can argue It's financially & PSR wise most important match .

Testing a new formation right before the most/2nd most important match of the season?!

I don't have any words other than praying for Howe being the genius we all think.

Absolutely got it spot on today

He's still improving and learning and it's so clear to see. No doubt will end up being one of the best English coaches (even though kind of already is) this country has ever seen when you look at his career years down the line.

I've had doubts in the past during his difficult periods but he's proven all doubters wrong again and again.

"The way we play has to fit the culture of the club... the supporters want to see fast attacking football... I want to give them what they want."

Never leave, man.

The return to a 3-4-3 worked perfectly!

Thought botman was outstanding in the middle. Both Murphy and libra didn't let anything pass them until very late in the Game.

Really sólid performance

Fucking love how he has us playing new formations when the situation requires it and both he and the team deliver almost every time, yet Amorim over at Manure needs "his own players", a preseason, a new TV and "patience from the fans" for Manure to defeat anyone not currently already relegated playing his defensive 5-4-1 shite.

GET IN :howe:

Feel like we're sbout to pop out of the main constraints of ffp as well. They've delayed us as long as they can, and still we've won a cup and are fighting for CL with 2 games to go.

Big reason we can look bad against 10 men. Slow proving football is despised by our fans and it makes the players force it.

Net positive mind.

20 league wins is some feat

No team that's won 20 games has finished outside the top 5 in at least the last decade (which is as far back as I could be arsed to look). Mad that it's still not enough this season.

This formation has worked well for us in the past and it's worked well too, we really should use it more. Great today.

Aye, putting Schär, Botman and Burn against one powderpuff centre-forward gives your a decent chance of keeping a clean sheet, like.

Loved it in that first half; felt very fluid going forward too.

I didn’t think we were forcing attacks though, we just don’t have enough players who love to keep possession and Chelsea had 3 £100m DMs on the pitch.

There are many instances where Pope chooses not to launch a quick counter, I guess that’s tactical.

I’ve mentioned this before - we try a lot of low percentage forward passes under minimal pressure.  That’s a tactical direction.

I think if you’re getting caught on the counter against 10 men which happened a few times, you are forcing attacks.

Chelsea are the opposite. To their detriment. Think it’s impacting Palmer a lot. Very few transitions. Safe passing.

They were fairly shut imo.

it’s the lack of draws which differentiates us from teams in the past
