Sometimes I think Eddie might have too much power, influence, pull, reverence or whatever at the club.

But then I read that interview, and realise there's no one else I would want in his seat.

He just has an unreal knack of saying exactly the right words in exactly the right tone. Sometimes I think ive lost control of my faculties and begin drifting into exploring the possibility of him being Ai or something, but then sharp realise Ai simply couldn't replicate him.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, speaking about the siutation of Alexander Isak: "There has been no change. All my focus is on Aston Villa tomorrow. Isak's situation has been clear for a while and that will continue to be the case.

"I've had a great relationship with him, you need that partnership with every player. I have to work really closely with the player for his benefit, to try and improve them. I always want to be there for him.

"I don't think Isak would have done as well without that, his team mates, the supporters - he recognises that, he's an intelligent person."

Will Isak play tomorrow?: "I want him to play, to train, but details of our conversations remain private."

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe on how the Isak saga has impacted the other players: "In early pre-season, I have not shied away from it being a difficult time. You could see that in our performances.

"But the players are strong mentally, the mood has been good, performances recently have been better. The group has reacted well. Sometimes these things can have a good effect, and we were close anyway. These things can unify you in a way you didn't know possible."

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe on other transfers, including their move for Aston Villa forward Jacob Ramsey: "I am really pleased, it has been a slow burner this summer. We tried to be active early, that didn't happen. Then you're trying to turn things in a positive way.

"Gradually piece by piece we have been becoming stronger. We have quality players coming in. The top end of the pitch is not ideal, but we have time."

Howe then confirmed Ramsey is unlikely to play for Newcastle tomorrow, even if the deal is completed today.

Aside from Isak, Eddie Howe also gave a team news update:

"Everyone is available apart from Joe [Willock], and he’s not too far away himself. We have a relatively good looking squad in terms of injury news. Malick [Thiaw] will be part of the squad, he has trained two days, never easy coming in at the end of pre-season, but he’s doing well."

I would hate to do one of these press conferences, each reporter has asked basically the exact same question about Isak, its ridiculous. I think there has been about 3 questions not involving him

They all earn a living spinning around the same morsels of information, ask the same repetitive mundane questions, report the same "exclusives" but in reality know very little. And the arrival of "client media" just makes things worse.

This is the first time I’ve ever read praise for that ping-pong playing wanker - hopefully it’s the last :)

Can’t stand the bloke.  Thankfully, the feeling is mutual - my ‘favourite’ quote of his when we were protesting against Ashley is when he described us as ‘whining, whingeing, self-pitying, self-indulgent and deluded’.  Fuck that cunt.

Matthew Syed is an absolute cunt, but that's a good article. Mainly because it's about Howe, but at least he's provided a vehicle to showcase Eddie's high IQ football brain.

Aye, fair enough - feels very ‘stopped clocks’.   Can’t stand the cunt.  He’s a ping pong playing Tory wanker.

I used to enjoy when he’d talk about being a world class athlete and therefore understood what pressure it brings - as if playing Forrest Gump’s hobby counts

Wasn't aware of those comments, but add me to the crowd who think he's a tosspot in every area of life in which I've encountered him.
