I know I sound like a broken record, but there is no finer manager on the planet than Eddie Howe. Sunday's result, when we lost a big game late on from a winning position, should have been a real blow to morale. Instead, a few days later we put in our best performance of the season. I repeat, there is no-one finer.

I'm not sure if that is down to Bruno being tired, Joelinton maybe being found short technically in the really big games, or might just be us falling short in other areas of the pitch. Early days mind, but we haven't quite clicked for possession against the better teams yet. 

We also have Pope, Burn, Joelinton, Elanga, Murphy and to some extent Gordon, Barnes & Tino who aren’t great at keeping possession. 
 

And we don’t play like we want to keep possession.  
 

Like Arsenal pretty much attack like they want to play against a low block.  Push teams back and chest choke them with the passing into a mistake. Or a set piece. Even when there’s sometimes opportunity to hit the striker fast they’ll play it shorter and slow and build like that.  
 

We are the opposite. Sometimes when it’s time to just pass it around we’ll play a low percentage pass and just concede possession. 
 

The level of opposition is also a massive factor.  USG were pony but at 2-0 they were in the ascendancy and we partly killed them off with good spells of possession.

We’ve had a couple of heart breakers (vs The Arse and the dippers) not to mention losing two of our new signings and best full back. Hear any moaning? Hell no. Proper leader getting everyone’s head (and the rest of them) in the right place.

I remember there were quite a bit of negativity in that 23/24 season after a difficult first 4 fixtures, but we were in a very good position by october/november. This must be the best start under Howe, and also the most difficult one fixture wise. After that it fell apart, for reasons we all know. I think this season is the second most difficult given the form of Villa, Wolves and Forest (we'll see how they look on sunday with the new manager, though).

Reminds me of Klopp's early Liverpool, but they improved with the ball as they added more quality.

Frustrating first half but we upped it well second half and were in total control soon as they had that one good chance after the goal. Thought the subs were spot on.

 

Another clean sheet as well - the work done to get us to be tight as fuck this season has been mint.

Would've liked to see Osula and Miley sooner but not really Howes fault completely. They were ready to come one at 85 and the ball never went out of play. 

 

Just feel like they both deserved more than 5 minutes, especially after we went 2 up.
