Anyone want him out now?

No. And nobody is saying that.

Wanting someone to succeed and whether or not they do it are different things.

It will be a sad day for the club and supporters if he’s not the manager at some point in the future but am sure if that day ever comes there will be a reason for it.

I’m not sure if we do sit back on purpose, I think it’s a result of us not being able to handle a press, which is due to our lack of technical ability and possibly a lack of emphasis on it in training and in the market. We get the ball, get pressed, try to rush it forward, lose it. The pattern has been there for a long time.

We used to be really good at pressing teams as well, feel like it's been virtually non existent for ages now .

All of the attacking players bought this season (apart from Woltemade) are ‘running onto the ball’ players. We’ve been desperate for someone to keep possession but bought Ramsey and Elanga for circa £100m.

 All of our wingers in particular have the exact same thought, which is to immediately turn and try to run beyond the opposition full back as soon as we have possession either in midfield or with our own full backs.

This is a huge factor in why we struggle to control the game, as often the only out-ball we have is either over the top/an incisive pass down the touchline (most of which just find their way back to the opposition), or through the centre where we immediately get pressed.

PSR and injuries aren’t really an excuse for losing to the worst team in the league after going a goal up.

League form has been awful this year and needs to be prioritised as soon as possible. We barely beat Fulham last time out, imagine how bad it would be now if we didn't win that game.

I do wonder if the players have switched off a bit to Howe and pressing. If you take the full backs with CM / Attack, it’s a collective that have heard the same message for 3 full seasons. Only so much same players will keep responding to same message. Why the change up is needed more often so players don’t feel their position is safe.

Gordon played like someone who knew he’d be starting midweek regardless, which just shouldn’t happen.

Howe is at his best when he can prep his team all week and they largely remain unchanged each week. It’s no coincidence that in 2 European seasons now he appears to be struggling in the league.

I can see us getting something against Bilbao midweek but then Brentford away could be rinse and repeat.

We need results in the league or pressure will build on him. I enjoyed our performance against Spurs midweek but I’ve got to say since he went 5 at the back against Everton on the last day, I haven’t enjoyed his football one bit this season.

I’m no fan of tippy tap football but we need some composure in the final third and he’s neglected this massively in the summer.

 Not sure about this.

It’s hard to press with our fullback options.

This isn't a thing by the way. Liverpool and Arsenal barely beat us. You can;t have it both ways

I agree but I was I largely happy with Elanga because of his pace (we’ve not seen much of it in any practical sense). I thought Mbeumo slowed the play down and was too ‘technical’. Kudus and Semenyo were my choices.

If Howe can’t do both then he can’t manage a European side.

This is more we show up against big teams and not weaker opposition. I imagine we give city a game an look shit vs Brentford and Everton.

I back Eddie 100%.

Iraola and Glasner look bound for big things though. Whichever "big" job comes up next you'd assume they'll be front runners

Glasner is out of contract too end of season.

Love him to bits, but his loyalty towards some players is starting to let us down. Could understand it when the alternatives were people like Dubravka and Longstaff. Not when it's Ramsdale & Ramsey, for instance.

How he handles Dan Burn when everyone is fit is going to be the decisive one for me. He's escaped having to make that decision so far for the most part.

Liverpool was a unique game giving the context, but let’s be real, Arsenal fucking destroyed us. Just because it was a late winner, doesn’t take away from the fact we were outplayed for 95% of it.

We should have buried Fulham too. You can't have it both ways

I haven;t seen any of the game today so can't comment but hasn't Burn been pretty flawless at centre back all year?

Sounds like Botman didn't play well today

And it’s obviously by design at this point, he’s trying to manage fitness levels in games like these. Unfortunately today we went 1 up and then didn’t push the game to tip it our way, and we got killed off by a desperate team. Byproduct of being passive.

But as we know minutes and fitness need to managed with this schedule, I feel we did get it a bit wrong today though and became to passive. We allowed them that game, when it got on top of us we were done.

Need some better, more confident ball retention to adapt to a slower kill the game type of game if that’s what Howe wants at 1-0 vs less threatening sides. More technical feet in there. Hes trying to avert the injury disaster of 23/24 when we had CL, the full bore press broke our players down by Christmas.

Terrible game management today.

Infuriating that Jo and Burn are not dropped.

Burn was absolutely sensational midweek. Who are you suggesting for left back? And this is not a pop as our only possible option to play there Trippier was out today as well. Agree on Jo
