Brighton was a bad day and we recovered. However, the main problem is he doesn’t seem able to fix the away form which is now becoming high profile. Love Howe, but he still hasn’t found the answers away from St James’.
toon25
He'll get all the time in the world from me. He wasn't half let down by the absolute shit show of a summer - which was in no way down to him and was entirely a consequence of the PL/media cartel 6 racket and the ridiculous Isak soap opera. The likes of Bournemouth, Forest, and Brighton might have their day this season, but they'll be back in mid-table obscurity once they show consistent signs of upsetting the applecart (as Eddie has had us doing). The one thing that should keep us on track is this man. Those aforementioned clubs will fuck off their managers or have them poached. Eddie is here for us, and here for this club. Erikse
Think this could to be one of those seasons that some teams have where we struggle in the league, but go far in the cups and/or CL. Even if the league goes to shit for us, we still have other tournaments.

This is the thing for me next week at Brentford is going to be similar in we are the favourite going to a bottom 8 level team. We need a big performance. I don’t think we have the luxury of having off seasons now.

We won all 12 games against the bottom 6 teams, scoring 35 goals. Our real issue is that we stop pushing for more after we score. Murphy gets us ahead, then we just sit back and let them come at us. We've been doing this for two seasons now. We're too passive and back off, and that's because we're overworking our midfield. Ramsey, Willock, and Miley should be playing regularly to keep our energy levels up. Playmakers in the EPL are practically a myth these days. Can you even name one playmaker in the EPL right now who's having a good season or is even remotely decent? Totally disagree, respect your opinion though
Ellis H
Some very quick maths says that this is our record since January 1st in all competitions P 40 W 23 D 4 L 13 Since the start of the 23/24 season we’ve only drawn 14 games out of 86 in the league (won 41, lost 30). Turning some defeats into draws would be hugely beneficial in such a tight league. Maybe that’s been to do with having almost no options on the bench til this season? Who knows but I thought this was interesting. Might be more suited to the “how can we challenge” thread though.

Lucky
Talking in massive hypotheticals and certainly not advocating for a change, but who is out there in world football who would transform us? Klopp, Pep and Alonso are non runners.. Mourinho would come but is he done at this point? Zidane? Not sure he speaks English or has any interest in returning to management at the moment. I’d always loved to have seen what Rafa would have done with some money to spend but can probably also file him under the Mourinho bracket now. Think my point is that there’s no foregone conclusion of someone who could come in that would be a dead cert. Not like when Pep went to City etc.

Stopping short of being Howe out isn't necessarily automatically stopping short of the criticism being irrational (amongst other things) mind. There's also still the same old story of posters coming out of the woodwork to criticise him who are otherwise very quiet. Gola
Not read Howe out on here, that would be so fucking stupid on so many levels. Did hear it on some cunt's stream though, but I expect whoever they were are reactionary and thick as fuck.

Mole
Since I started to watch I've had two main issues that can be controlled. Joelinton continuing to play despite it being very obvious that everytime Miley plays the team plays much better and the wingers being far too involved in build up. If there is to be progress, Joelinton needs to be phased out and there needs to be a bigger focus on Tonali and Bruno in possession. I'm not clamouring for a completely different style, but an evolution of it because as far as I'm concerned the wingers see the ball far too much for their level of production. I still want them involved but there should be more responsibility on the midfielders in possession IMO. I want to be fair to Howe though because most of the issues are far out of his control, We've had injuries that certainly haven't helped (Wissa and the full backs are probably the biggest ones) But I think there are things that are within control and I hope at the very least he will start to phase out Joelinton, the wingers one is less likely I just feel it would help them be more consistent with less responsibility. But even if he doesn't decide to make it an emphasis to get Bruno on the ball more, having an extra passer in midfield in Miley as well as Hall coming back from injury should help. jack j
Genuinely thought he'd have more credit in the bank after the 4 years he has been here Our best manager in modern times. Can't believe some of the shite i have seen Once he leaves I think i am probably done with this club and it's "support" And yes, I know we were fucking shite yesterday Edited November 3, 2025 by jack j
Gallowgate Toon
His comments post-game were very honest which is always good, but they don't actually reflect well on his decisions from half-time onwards. The game needed energy but it was also going to be a completely different second half - this is Nuno, his teams almost always happily concede the ball when there's a lead to create breaks. Taking off the player most suited to this type of situation was bizarre, especially when Will Osula is the other option. He's got to make some big calls. No point in talking about genuine competition for places if Joelinton, who has been poor all season, keeps starting. Same goes for Gordon in the league. Cf
I think there's definitely an effort to manage our workload in games borne from the injury crisis we suffered last time out in the CL. On paper it's a good idea but in reality it's not really working and that's probably mainly down to the quality of our players. Don't get me wrong - we have a good team. But our team running at 60% isn't going to win games in the PL. I think the idea is sound but maybe the pendulum has swung slightly too far. But also it's something we might see pay dividends over the Christmas period when all teams have to deal with fixture congestion. Dan Burn at left back really needs to stop. OoOGazOoO
Pretty sure that is the most dejected and disappointed he has sounded during a post-match press conference, he looked and sounded noticeably different to normal, and almost like he was let down a bit by the playing squad. Hopefully we get a response against Bilbao.
KennyUtd
Nobody in their right mind wants Howe out but surely he's not above criticism. Our away form is past a joke now and we don't seem anywhere near solving the problems. Yesterday was fuckin abject and he deserves as much shit about it as the players.
