Shaming people shouldn"t be whats on your minds after a game like that guys.

Let people enjoy the win.

You would say that

There's a breed on here who want to engage in relentless OTT bed pissing then get salty when it's pointed out to them how ridiculous they sound.

More shaming pls. It's the only chance we have of making the forum bearable after any setback.

Feel like the absolute shit show of the summer isn't talked about anywhere near enough.

Eddie likes to bed his new players in and work in a system. We had literally no pre season with our current squad, and he had to chuck Woltemade straight in. Ratboy fucked so much more than just leaving, he literally ruined our entire preparation for the season.

Wissa's injury was absolutely killer as well, he was meant to be the sure thing signing to bridge the gap.

Have to calculate fees into this to work out par as well. I think we've invested more than Villa.

We probably have but Villa had a far better squad than the one we had when Eddie took over .

Very different starting points between the two clubs tbf. When our takeover happened most of the squad needed an overhaul and we had no saleable assets, at that time Villa already had half of the best players they still have now.

I didn't understand not taking Bruno off sooner as he could barely move - but other than that was the perfect night.

Plenty of players run off knocks or when you roll your ankle, hyperextend your knee etc.  You have physios that can give their opinion.  But if Bruno said he was ok to continue and wanted to test it, then there's not much more Howe could do on that situation.

Perhaps he then should have got him off sooner after that.  As he clearly wasn't right.  But that's also on Bruno for not going down or getting the ball out of play so that the sub could be made.  You have to admire him wanting to continue.  But it's also daft on his part.

Reminder of Eddie's first team:

I'm quietly optimistic for Villa.

They have to travel to Turkey today and have one less recovery day. We also have a good record at home against them. Also Kamara injury feels important for them.

Will feel better if Bruno wasn't injured but I'm hopeful. It's the upcoming away fixtures I'm less confident for. But if we just go one game at a time like Eddie always likes to do then we can hopefully get through it without too much damage.

I reckon they're going to rest a load of players, aren't they basically through already?

Oh. No idea haven't tracked their europa games. Either way I'm always hopeful when we are at home against anyone.

Yeah I really fancy us vs Villa, they seem to be wobbling at exactly the right time for us too.

Massive respect, but don’t kill yourself in the process Eddie. I guess he can’t help himself

I agree but I'm not sure there's any other way to be a football manager.

Hopefully he can carve out some relaxation and family time.

This is how you end up ill, working yourself into the ground.

Eddie, I love you. Massive respect and gratitude for what you’ve done for us, but at the end of the day, it’s just football. Kick back a bit and enjoy life.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.

I think him having to graft all the hours God sends just to have his team escape relegation, qualify for the Champions League (twice) and win a trophy, is a sign of his limitations.

I mean, people on here been telling me how being a CL & PL Manager is......checks notes......a piece of piss 😉

Par for us has been 7th/8th for some time. Kieran Maguire or someone on Twitter will have squad cost table somewhere.

But wages matter more than squad cost. Financially £60m on Havertz is a level above £55m on Elanga due to the wages.

The more pertinent point is there's a fairly big gap between our wage bill and the level below. Which gives us a major advantage over the field if we are not in Europe. Being in Europe and bottom of that top 8 shows you what a tough challenge we have being competitive on all fronts. We are going to play 15/16 top level games more than the majority of the PL, that's going to cost us points.
