Armchair Pundit
I don't think Eddie's that much to blame for today's result, contrary to the gloom-mongers on here. Imo, people should be very careful what they wish for, Eddie isn't coveted by the big teams out there for no reason.
Harveys Barn
Just once, I'd love the journos at the press conference to ask direct questions. Not "how important is ...." But: Why is gordon always played on the left instead of Barnes? What instructions are given to players about long range shooting? Was that game played in the way you planned for it to be? Relying on wing play when the wide players are creatively fuckin shite is ridiculous. The fact Gordon is preferred over Barnes on the left is shocking too imo
Casey
All the contrivance about his future is almost irrelevant at this very point. However we're entering a really rough stretch of difficult away games. By the end of it we'll know where the chips have fallen. Here's hoping we can change our fortunes.

We'll do well to finish top 7 at best this season, if we finish below top 7 I think, based on everything that's a poor season Saudis have their fingers in so many pies, maybe they're not that arsed about finishing 8th for example, still money being made from tv coverage, and we've been champions league this season. He'll continue on. But if they are bothered, and see it as a poor season, they might pull the trigger in the hope of someone "better". 8th is par tbh. That we are basically on par this season, as it stands The first is a huge positive for Howe but the longer the second remains true, the weaker the "nobody could do as good a job as Howe with this squad" argument gets. Still very tight though and anything from 7th/8th upwards is par and not sack-worthy
Stifler
Same shit every week. We can’t break teams down, we rely on our wingers producing a bit of magic and Gordon checked out a year and a half ago. Barnes is good but not good enough to do it on his own and gets played in the wrong position. £50m for Elanga who doesn’t track back or offer anything really, so much that Barnes is played in his position. No creativity from midfield. Once in a while we’ll have a great performance where we press high, and the very next game it’s abandoned. The fact is that if in recent months both Miley and Hall hadn’t have decided to take on their man, we wouldn’t even move up the pitch. The same subs at the same time game in game out, and usually when a game is lost. The set pieces are a complete and utter fucking waste of time. Oh look, play it at the back post when the opposition have their whole team ahead of our players to get to the ball, or they have a keeper who is well known for picking the ball out of the air. Or how about our favourite, play it short but do it so slow paced that it doesn’t catch anyone out. Villa did a short corner today and honestly the 3rd touch of the ball and the ball being in the box was faster than when our first pass is placed. Look at the state of the signings as well. Howling for a keeper to come in and when he did it takes Pope dropping us about 15 points on his own and a fake injury to put him in, only to be taken straight back out again. Elanga who offers less than what Miggy did. Wissa who was always the wrong side of 28/29 when we bought him and for that price. Ramsey who hasn’t had a decent game yet. This is all stuff that we have all discussed all season, if not longer in a lot of cases. How isn’t Howe seeing this? How aren’t the coaches or players seeing this? Every other club has saw it, and they know so long as they don’t leave gaps at the back for us to exploit on the break, then we have fuck all chance of breaking them down. The first and second questions have been asked and answered already. Gordon does not want to play on the right and Barnes is willing to do what it takes for the team. On long range shooting it was said that we want more of it, for e.g. from Tonali, but that he's not sure why there's less of it.

Hmm to an extent, its a poor season based on the teams that would finish above us if we were 8th. However, and I know its not the exact same situation, but there's no way when Chelsea and City were taken over a manager would have survived finishing 8th, based on their ambition. Depends if Saudis have the same ambition.

TheEntertainer
I'm really not sure what the answer is, but it's clear something needs to change, unless teams are a level below us (non-elite European teams), or just don't defend properly (Leeds), we really struggle to create anything, Wissa is never in a good position to meet a cross that was Isaks bread and butter, there was a really good example in the first half where I think Miley fizzed one across the 6 yard box and Wissa was still jogging in and at the edge of the box. It just doesn't look like number 9 play. Woltemade is more often in the right position, but is too slow to get ahead of a defender to get there first, unless it's in the air where he can use his height. There have been so many games this season, where if a team have actually set up to defend deep against us, we may as well just give up and go home, or hope for a moment of brilliance from someone, or a set piece. I've said for a while now, we need to have a look at everything in the summer as outworking teams and being solid isn't working anymore, because every team is doing that now. We weren't actually bad in the game overall today, we just really struggle to create good chances barring a mistake from the opposition. Villa on the other hand looked much more dangerous in the final third, it felt like they caused problems most attacks which is the opposite of us at the minute. I do agree with what you’re saying but I don’t think we’ve played with nearly as much intensity as we usually would across the season. Only tends to be in certain games, though I do understand why. SiLvOR
He'll be gutted to lose to that vampiric freak today. I really hope we try Wolt and Wissa starting just to see if we can bring something different to the table over these coming games. A lot will depend on availability of Bruno, tbf.
