I still think Eddie is the right man for the job, but it's getting more and more apparent that he is struggling to find a way to get the team to work cohesively. Our squad is looking thin and aging now, and our plan of attack has basically one route, which is clearly telegraphed and ultimately not working. The way we are set up and approaching games needs to change, because while we have over performed the last few years compared to what we have spent. Losing all european football again for a season would be a massive step backwards, and may cause us to lose players which will make it even harder for us.

If the players who don’t play well enough to qualify Europe demand to leave because of no European football then fuck em, all honesty!

I support Newcastle United not A Player FC

Nothing to do with people coming in here every week - the frustration most have here is that we’ve been consistent all season - and it’s not the consistent we want - by in large it’s been a repetition all season - if it isn’t working, why keep on trying it

Yeah it's a really weird take that it's somehow damning that people who are frustrated with the way we've been playing this season express that frustration when we lose and we don't look good doing so.

Football is a results game, even if we are poor, if we win, people are happy and it would rather kill the vibe if after a good result people were in here slating the team and manager (and be weird honestly).

Is the expectation that people who are unhappy with how we've been playing post in here negatively win or lose? Or just that if you are negative you should never post? Or you should post all the time about anything even if you have nothing to say? I'm very confused by this take, it's not even an argument, no support for how we played, no support for Howe's decisions, no rebuttal to any of the points made, just oh look negative people are posting again LOL. I think that's significantly less worth time posting than people taking the time to discuss the team we all support on a forum about that team.

You'd think it was locked when we win, the lack of posts

Take a look at the current poll running at the top of the thread.

86% support for him on here. Stop being a drama queen

It's easy to just summarize it as "we cocked up the summer" but for a variety of factors that are rarely recognized in the criticism. Isak leaving didn't just deprive us of a killer goal threat, it pushed us into the type of transfer business we weren't quite ready for it seems.

I think you add that, plus the lack of executive leadership and the amount of competitions we're desperately competing in, mix it all together in a shit cocktail and sprinkle in some under-performing players, poor in-game management at times plus horribly timed injuries and this is the kind of uneven season you get. We're not playing well in the league but i'm not personally surprised by any of it.

Eddie has hit his ceiling for me. If he thinks his 433 is taking us to any new level I’m afraid he’s mistaken. Emery showed today what a real manager can do. Score a goal and drop into a low block because he knows it’s our Kryptonite. Simple. Game was over before it started

We beat Everton 4-1 away, who beat Villa 1-0 away, who beat us 2-0 away.

But if you looked in here and refused to look at any other results, or just the table, you'd think being inconsistent uniquely applied to us.

Then it's "I don't care about other teams!", despite insisting half of their managers would do a better job.

We have been totally overachieving. And helped by ManU and Spurs being shit.

Our squad is not UCL-level.

The players are certianly good enough to compete in the Champions League.

They struggle more in the Prem.

Utter bollocks by the way - I am quite level headed in my views - back my posts up based on what I have seen over a period of time

Oh yes, You see it is it is. Some of you have the self awareness of toddlers. So of course you think you’re level headed. Sports fans are usually a fickle bunch, but my word it’s grown significantly worse in the Information Age.

yes Howe has had a really mixed and often poor season. Yes we’ve been predictable all too often. Yes, most of our summer signings have not clicked yet. And yes, Howe is a victim of his own success. And yes, Howe has managed to right the ship before. But you clowns have put us in a Groundhog Day every year, and will continue to do so no matter what until he finally leaves. And  you’ll act like you were right all along at the end of it, even though some of you have been so ridiculously wrong since 2021.  It’s not that you may finally be right this season or next, or the next, or the next. It’s the completely limbic system driven  processes of getting there.

The most interesting tactic I’ve seen from Eddie was early days when we would swing Trippier high and wide and pull Burn in from LB to go three at the back in attack.

After that, we relied heavily on Isak for goals and have no answers for filling that gap.

I will say in defence of EH - there’s been no strategy on field from the clubs - 2,summer windows he’s been left to sort business out - that’s been a big issue as from having a real good ability to buy what we need - we’ve had to sell 1 sumner and the other he’s been left to buy himself

I’ll ask again. How will Eddie accommodate Woltamade. A complete “unicorn” of a striker. Does he change system, patterns of play… nope.

No.

Which is a shame because I think Wolt could be a transformational number 10 for us.

Our squad is not UCL-level.

We got Germanys starting ‘striker’, Italys best player, two Brazilian internationals (one who starts), Englands starting left winger and two of the countries brightest young full backs. We’ve spent half a billion in the past few years and sit 7th in it. We’ve got a better squad than both those teams. Don’t talk nonsense.

I find it hard to blame the players at the moment tbh. They’re being hung out to dry in that system. I love Eddie, but he will have to go if he continues with this ‘system’. Not even changing things from the bench is almost unforgivable. I’m baffled as to how he can’t see what everyone else seems to see.

Think this is just proof that the PL is running away from the rest of Europe.

Next two months are brutal.

The whole season has been brutal tbh, bar the run we've had in the Carabao and Champions League but all of it could come to a screeching end very quickly in the next few weeks.

It has not been an enjoyable season at all, except the very sporadic great performance, nothing has clicked, even the midfield that was the envy of the league last season has looked powder puff. A lot of mitigating factors to consider, but by the day the loss of Isak has looked more and more damning, ultimately its a game of goals and without him we have very little threat.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I do know that canning Eddie off one bad season is not it.

Same issues. Really want him to be the guy for next season, but he’s got to start showing something different with the side to give us something excited moving forward.

It’s proper heads in sand if people can’t see this going all stale with the current approach.
