He's always a great speaker tbh. But what's out there on the pitch doesn't translate as well.

I actually think some of his post match comments over the last month or so have been infuriating, obviously because he’s never going to throw players under the bus.

Yep.  I seem to remember predictions of Brentford’s demise post-Frank.  Likewise Brighton post-Potter.

It is almost as if excellent scouting and player acquisition is more important than coaching - and that in terms of coaching, top drawer coaches are more common than people think.

Recruitment this summer was disastrous. You don't win games with bad players no matter how good the coaching.

Fancy us to get that second part right though ?

Fair.

Hard words from Howe. Feel a bit sorry for him, we all know how hard working he is, but at the same time this is a result business after all.

If only it was as black and white as that. Had Arteta done that prior to succeeding Emery at Arsenal? Maresca to Pochettino? Andrews to Frank at Brentford?

...Howe at Newcastle?

Half of them are flavours of the week and Arsenal fans all wanted Arteta out after his first 3 seasons of 8th, 8th, 5th, before it finally clicked. You've made my point for me about patience there tbh.

Won’t hide. He needs to learn though and it’s time for a change in system to try and control games better.

Fucking love the guy. Absolutely ooting for him. We all are.

Heartbreaking to watch this in slow motion but career changing if he can fix it. If he can turn it around that might renew my hope he can take us further than I think he can at present. He has to, or he wont be here next season.

Coaching is critical but quality players and maximising quality is #1.  I’ve been a firm believer that this squad lacks quality.

I thought to stand still and finish 5th in the league or better we needed to add a genuine purple (and keep what we have) and fill out the squad.   We are 2 players light squad wise.  Lost our best player and added zero purples. Not made a single signing that markedly improves the first team.  No surprise we have seen massive decline.

We are 7 months into the season and it’s finally dawned on him - there’s games aplenty we’ve had chances to work things out - his comments mean nothing - if anything we are now getting worse

It's quite startling how brittle and fragile our mentality has become when not that long ago it was one of our strong points,we were just barging past teams at home, now we look tentative even when we have a lead

Their 5th place season was viewed as an improvement/positive season despite missing out on CL in the last 3 games. And what about the other two?

Howe’s shown himself based on the evidence thus far of incapable of managing/balancing multiple games a week regularly. For where we want to go, that’s unsustainable.

I’d be amazed if they are aware of anything.

I might be wrong but it feels like Jamie Reuben is some delivery guy between all parties.

In regard to hypothetical managerial wishes personally if we can’t get Tuchel I’d take a punt on either Hoeneß or Fabregas.

Feels like that's what people are after otherwise it's shit.

Not from my perspective (since the post you quoted was replying to me).

I do think it's a fair assessment that we haven't played very well in a lot of games this season though. For a wide variety of reasons, it clearly isn't clicking at either end of the pitch and we have spent large chunks of this season looking both frail and blunt. It's difficult to pretend otherwise at this point.

That said, people have to remain mindful that a lot of those reasons are external to the manager.

The 5th season was seen as a failure and disappointment.  When we smashed them at ours - killed their chances - it was bad.  It’s Arsenal.

I don't want him out at all, but it will start looking real bleak unless he can scrape some points together

What other manager could cope better with a small squad and 2 games a week
