He’s a panic signing.

And tbh my major point is the whole window was badly managed and executed.

He’s a panic signing.

3 of those were highly unlikely to happen from the start.

Having other, more realistic signings to move on to after the long shots have already gone doesn’t indicate panic.

I disagree but I also don’t care [emoji38] it’s a shit signing anyway

We were first linked with Wissa on 8 July because Hope peddled his name alongside Watkins and I can remember it being discussed on here. That's 11 days before the Celtic friendly when the Isak stuff first emerged. He wasn't a panic signing in any way, shape or form, though we did overpay thanks to the fact it happened so late in the window.

We were mugs in that deal, Brentford had no other buyers for him and we still overpaid.

Even though I'm firmly in the camp of "Eddie is our King", this definitely stings today :(

I get it though, Woltemade was by far the worse signing. It’s like we knew nothing about him similar to when we signed Joelinton.

I still think all of our signings made sense on paper. Woltemade being the risk factor.

If Elanga, Ramsey and Wissa had contributed anywhere near what we expected the season would’ve been completely different. Combination of bad luck with injuries and inexplicably bad form for Elanga fucked us.

Ramsey will eventually turn out to be an excellent signing. Hopefully Woltemade too.

Woltemade makes no sense at all in hindsight.

King Edward won us a cup though

Understandable disdain for one of our most successful ever managers who has only ever represented the club with class and dignity.

Ever take a step back, think about your posts and realise they're 99% negative or does that just not occur to you at all?

That fact we overpaid at the 11th hour is that not by definition a 'panic buy'?

It looked a poor window at the time and it’s looked a worse window now.

You know what I mean though. 3 players proven to be able to play well and get goals and assists in the PL. Came here and either got injured or did nothing.

Being pessimistic and then being proved right is fine and all that. But there was no logical reason to think they’d be this bad.

Yes and no. I still think in theory he should be able to link up really well with our wide players who want goals above anything else. And runners like Ramsey and Tonali from midfield.

Obviously we’ve had loads of injures, fatigue and have played shit so none of this has really been able to be tested.

That post isn’t negative to be fair it’s just stating a fact.

For him to do well we need a lethal winger or two, Bruno and Tonali in the middle then Hall and Livra playing for pace and build up. I think it’s just too hard to make it all work even though if it all went really well it could be incredible.

You’re talking about end product for a season (or two tops) but did they actually look like good players? Did they have genuine pedigree?

Wissa 1 great season 1 good season in terms of end product.  But has he ever looked a top player in waiting?

Elanga - is similar.

Not sure who the 3rd is.  Ramsey? A rotation player for Villa and he’s the same here.  A lot of money for that.

Apart from Elanga - I didn’t expect any of these to be better than what we had last season.

Elanga and Wissa are worse than expected.

Although considering the way we play, also made the most sense, albeit at about half the price.

I thought we over paid at the time but I can’t believe how bad he has been.

I’m scarred for life after the summer transfer window.
