As said before I'm on the Eddie in side, and would give him another season, though if we were bottom half at Christmas I'd start looking at other options.

Other than the League Cup run last year, we were pretty shite, no Europe to think about and finished 5th. Would we all be happy with the same next year, shite but scrape top 6?

I actually really don’t care too much about finishing position, my biggest concern is that we play well more often. Of course they’re connected due to the confidence that comes with winning more.

Nothing in there is unfair. She’s consistently been a pain in the arse but that isn’t an article to gnash teeth over. I imagine an Oliver Holt or Barry Glendinning article would be miles worse.

Oh aye, them two are the pits. I think WK comes out with far worse every week at the pressers, where she is often a disgrace. Interesting about the potential new coach, not sure I'd read that anywhere else albeit a lot of us have said it might help.

The amount of games isn’t really an excuse as Howe rarely rotates and he plays the most high energy style possible. Thats on Howe not the fixture list.

Case in point Qarabag where we had a huge goal lead with another game in 3 days, yet he still rolls out the same core team in the second leg.

Howe’s job is to ensure we get Europe EVERY season for squad building, reputation and financial reasons. Not every other season. To be frank whilst it’s great for the fans getting QF of the Carabao Cup it means little for the clubs future but missing on the CL means everything and can set us back years.

Howe has been given two bites of cherry and proven he can’t manage CL seasons. I’ve see no willingness from Howe to experiment or adapt his style or squad management approach, so at this stage thinking otherwise is mainly just blind hope of third time lucky?

I love the guy but I just don’t think he can take us to the next level.

I'm intrigued what this next level is?

A summary from the latest Douglas article after Sunday:

It's all going to come to a head this summer.

Would really like to see Howe be open to points 3 and 4 regarding tactics and recruitment, as I genuinely think he'll be better for it and it will actually benefit him.

If he does feel like he's being infringed upon though, which he shouldn't after how last summer and this season have gone, could see him leaving like a few others have said.

Made 6 changes for Qarabag at home, then 5 changes for the match 3 days later btw.

You can definitely argue he maybe could have rested more players, particularly Tonali, but it's not like he didn't rotate at all.

The other thing with the Qarabag home game was that it was at the beginning of a run of home games and he wanted a good win to kick things off for that run. It made sensen to play a strong team from that point of view.

That's one of the other things I like a lot about him tbf; whether I agree or disagree with a particular choice, I believe that it's reasoned and logical. Even with poor results in the league this year I generally trust him. I like trusting the manager.

How long did we long for a manager and club that took the cups seriously?

I get that there's a middle ground between being serious and managing the squad, but I'll never begrudge him for prioritising winning.

Given the back room changes there will hopefully a much more professional approach to our signings this summer. And Howe won't have to do so much. This will require flexibility from Howe and the club but it's how it has to be.

If he objects to that too much then he's really not quite the intelligent and thoughtful manager that he seems to be, which I would find very strange.

Agree with this. My concern is that the DOF turns out to be a Howe stooge. Hopefully not and we can get in some young talent from abroad and start a development pipe. If Howe and nephew have too much say it won't end well.

He really wasn’t when he’s at Bournemouth. You got to hope he has learnt a lesson.

I have a horrible feeling that Wilson and Howe are going to have very differing views on how to approach this window. Not necessarily purely with incomings but contracts and player retention too. Let’s hope they can find a good, healthy middle ground

They’ve never worked together before so I don’t see any reason he’d be a stooge. They talked before he was appointed, which for me has to be positive and mean their relationship should be decent.

Think Howe staying under a much changed structure (and with his own role accordingly adjusted) could be the best outcome of Sunday. Would also suggest a somewhat invested owenrship.

I do agree that we need some form of PIF presence at the club, it doesn't even have to be a full time employee.

How come Howe's role needs to be adjusted though?
