Another lead thrown away. Again.

It’s the same story. Go ahead, lose control, concede soft goals, drop points. Nothing changes. No adjustment, no learning, no progression.

Three weeks to prepare and we come back looking exactly the same. Slow, predictable, and mentally fragile.

This is about coaching.

Howe has taken us as far as he can. The patterns are obvious, the ceiling has been hit, and we’re going backwards.

Forever legend of this Club, but his time here as the football manager is over.

This post sums up my feelings perfectly.

Of course he's a legend for what he's done here, but that was then and this is now. You don't "complete" football after winning 1 trophy. Losing Isak isn't an excuse, every team loses their best players. Fixture congestion and injuries aren't an excuse, every team suffers them. We're 5 years into PIF's (admittedly fanciful) ambitions for the club, they wouldn't have envisioned us reverted to midtable slop. He should ride off into the sunset this summer otherwise I worry it'll turn ugly next season.

Still for me he deserves a transfer window and a start of next season.

I didn’t catch any of the match today but but not surprised to read it was pretty much more of the same. The lineup didn’t scream changes and it worries me for Howe.

Mostly hoping it doesn’t turn toxic towards him because he deserves better even if results and performances have been shite.

Why give him another window though? If he brings in more dross the next manager will be on a hiding to nothing trying to flog them. 😂

I also remember where we were before Eddie took over - we've come so far and done so well - it's been a helluva ride. But this season can't be forgotten - he himself will know it's not been good enough.

It's not wrong to want or expect better than we have had.

There are lots of reasons but Howe is also one of them.

He's uniquely the only reason anyone wants to question or discuss, that's why it's different.

Come on, Iraola being above him when the season is ongoing doesn’t mean he is better. Maresca hasn’t won a major trophy, Poch won a one horse league.

3 of the 4 managers have won more managerial honours than Howe and the other is above him in the league. Fair enough if you want to class the Club World Cup and the Conference League as not being major trophies, but plenty people also say the League Cup isn't one.

This narrative that we could never attract a better manager than Eddie Howe is just plain odd, and untrue.

Genuinely starting to think some of these eternal Eddie apologists are mackems on the wind up.

Bruh...

Don't get me wrong, the inability to tolerate any kind of criticism of Eddie is highly irritating for sure, but this is also a manager who saved us from a third relegation (and potentially unknown fate), to two CL campaigns and our first trophy in 70 years. There is a reason people have loyalty to him.

The Saudis didn’t do any of the shortlisting, they picked between the two who where presented to them.

You sure? At the time Al rumayyan liked the look of emery and Reuben pushed for howe along with Staveley.

Nothing that a trip to Turkey or even a few teeth whitening strips wouldn't sort.

Would help yes but he's got more issues than just the teeth.

His dark soulless eyes for one!

There's loyalty, and then being in denial. I only have an issue with one of those.

When I did say we couldn’t ? I just think you are completely wrong to suggest those 4 are definite upgrades on Howe. Particularly Xavi, Maresca and Poch. As I said earlier Iraola would be my choice if Howe goes, but being higher in the league doesn’t mean he’s better than him.

The team selection today made no sense mind. Very odd I thought.

Yep it was weird. Felt like he was doubling down on his intensity is our identity, let's play it our way mentality.

Which is fair enough, but the players clearly didn't feel it.

Aye, Staveley led the search and presented Howe and Emery to the Saudis.

There’s extenuating circumstances, without doubt, but this has been a season of shocking mismanagement from Howe tbh. Anyone that thinks he can turn this around has their head in the sand and I love the bloke. It’s done

I'm guessing you're quite young? Certainly compared to some of us old fuckers on here 😀. Seeing ex players and managers at other clubs is just the  way it is, normal football stuff. I was happy when KK moved back into management with Man City.

Players and managers come and go. Its a cycle and Howe is probably about to complete his extremely successful time with us. I won't be arsed if he gets the Man U this summer, for example.

You’re into swinging aren’t you? ;)

You might be right on that, but where was the intensity? It was just the usual meander, the football we produce is absolutely lifting. Want to play possession but we have no clue how to with a team full of runners.

Because we’d have been relegated without him and wouldn’t have won a cup. I can take one mid-table season on the chin without being suicidal (for the most part). We start next season and after a window and 10 games or so if we’re still exactly the same then there’s no reason not to replace.

I see your point about more dross though. It’s almost impressive how we spent so much to get worse. Proper Liverpool behaviour.

I think quite a few see themselves away this summer, it’s not helping at all.
