Losing Isak isn't an excuse, every team loses their best players. Fixture congestion and injuries aren't an excuse, every team suffers them. We're 5 years into PIF's (admittedly fanciful) ambitions for the club, they wouldn't have envisioned us reverted to midtable slop. Don't get me wrong, the inability to tolerate any kind of criticism of Eddie is highly irritating for sure, but this is also a manager who saved us from a third relegation (and potentially unknown fate), to two CL campaigns and our first trophy in 70 years. I just think you are completely wrong to suggest those 4 are definite upgrades on Howe. Particularly Xavi, Maresca and Poch. I can take one mid-table season on the chin without being suicidal (for the most part). We start next season and after a window and 10 games or so if we’re still exactly the same then there’s no reason not to replace. I see your point about more dross though.
