Delighted for him, I said a few weeks back I just wanted him to get some wins and momentum to take into the summer. He’s doing more than that.

Load of times this season i have thought it has been a write off and the players could hide away

But they rarely have. Full credit to the main man. 8 league games left and still plenty to play for

Rang the changes and still got it right, now let's do the same at the Camp Nou and make some more records!

I hope he's here for many more years yet

Hoping that’s a West Ham away result before the final last season esque from us tonight ahead of Wednesday. Much needed belief that we can defend, especially against good sides away from home.

My exact first thoughts. Practically a year to the day too. We were absolutely flying after that West Ham game n'all.

Heavily rotated squad after a gruelling schedule. Of course he picks up three points and a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge.

Glad to see I’m still living rent free in @dcmk’s head.

Great performance and result tonight. Massively needed as finishing outside of the European places would be disastrous.

Gives us a great platform ahead of Wednesday and into the final months of the season.

Seemed to finally get us returning to the shithousing with time wasting, niggly fouls etc and that is absolutely what we’ve been missing to see games out.

Need to follow this up with 3 wins in the next 3 in the league which are typically difficult fixtures for us under Howe. Plenty of life left in this season yet but a real pivotal few weeks. Could end up out of the CL and no Europe next season or going deeper into the CL and snatching 5th. Let’s hope for the latter.

TBF when I think about who these idiots are, it's true that I immediately think of you.

Europe League would be huge, but you could easily argue we’d be better off not qualifying for Conference League.

Either way massively overstated. The club isn’t going to implode if we finish 9th.

Any of the three competitions would be good for different reasons. Europa and Conference are both winnable, offering us a European trophy and the guarantee of European football again the following season. Conference would also give us good opportunity to rotate, reducing the load on the team.

No European football and we’ll see our star players want to move on as well as the financial consequences we’d suffer for multiple years, I’d consider that quite disastrous tbh.

You keep saying this, it's not really true imo.

The Conference League and Europa League are pretty second rate competitions these days, they don't bring in loads of revenue and they probably don't attract many players. Yes we could qualify for CL via EL but one mis-step and it's out the window.

It wouldn't be the end of the world it we had a year off. Our future isn't built on it as far as I can see.

Edit - covered by @timeEd32 in far fewer words.

Selection will be tough next two games. Trippier Barca, Livra vs mackems?

Yeh I think Elanga and Trippier start again against Barca.

They combined well on Wednesday.

Just the tiny sum of c. £26m for going all the way in the Europa League, without factoring in commercial potential, matchday income etc.

Possibly the difference between signing another Isak or selling one.

We would also need to sign more players if we qualified for it, which probably offsets it entirely.

Apologies for invoking the "I" word on such a happy day but I reckon we'd comfortably be 3rd if Isak (or his replacement) was fit and firing this season. A 15-20 goal striker would definitely have gained us 10-12 points so far.

Bruno - 9

Woltemate - 7

Gordon - 5

Barnes - 5

We're lucky Bruno has stepped up like the captain he is.

As opposed to needing to sign players in the summer and having £26m less to do so and a lower attraction ability? What a strange point.

We need a smaller squad with no Europe, not a tricky concept to get your head around.

I've got me eye on 5th tbh, 6 points off with a decent run-in apart from Arsenal away. It's not likely but not impossible either.

So we’re going to sell good players who will want to move on, not buy replacements as we cannot afford to and do not have the extra games to require them and then have a weaker squad and be outside of Europe. Sounds pretty disastrous to me.
