It's unbelievable you see teams spending 15 to 20m as if it's nothing. God even Ajax are now spending that yet we think anyone over 10m is extortionate wtf is wrong with these idiots furthermore where is all the money going?

I think it's more that we refuse to get involved in bidding wars. We only go for players other clubs don't want.

True but Ashley also thinks anything over £15m is crazy money for anyone.

15m wouldn't get you Messi's toenail clippings these days. He's a daft fat twat.

You would have to consider us possible relegation candidates if no funds or records get spent or broken.

If we aren't even prepared to compete with the other teams in the division for recruitment then really there is no point in us being there

It's only a matter of time before we drop again with this mentality of Ashley's. We are trying to get 4 or 5 players for the same amount the likes of West Ham,Palace and Leicester spend on 1

You can't even get a decent Championship player now for 5-10m ffs

We don’t operate like any other club, we have more than enough to compete. It’s the unwillingness from Ashley.

Him and the thumb say they learn from mistakes of last 2 relegation yet they still play the game where we are so close to repeating these so called mistakes

The lies they spout is astonishing

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/06/28/stoke-middlesbrough-battle-newcastles-15m-rated-wing-matt-richie/

Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie is a £15 million target for Championship heavyweights Middlesbrough and Stoke.

Tony Pulis, the Middlesbrough manager, is scrapping with his old club to sign the Scotland international as Newcastle consider letting him leave after two years at the club.

Middlesbrough and Stoke have both held detailed discussions with Newcastle over a potential deal, with £15m understood to be the fee required to sign him.

Under "normal" circumstances I would say yes. He's at the age now where his value will only go down, although hard working and a good shot he is a very limited player and should be replaced with someone better to move the club forward.

Reality though is that we are still owned by Mike Ashley.

The clubs in for him is telling. Seems the sort of player who’s good for a promotion campaign and then to consolidate in the top flight, but not any higher. Same with Bournemouth now appears the same here, probably same again at Boro or Stoke.

Will we be going any higher?
