Would be typical if they just spunked over 50m on joelinton and some winger and went on a spending spree.

I think it's absolutely going to happen.

Varying reports that provided the players are int he right age range then they will spend.

Joelinton was being offered up as a younger version of Rondon, but Rafa wasn't interested.

This issue has been the main sticking poitn throughout Rafa's tenure.

Will they finally just get a manager that is qualified to work according to this stipulation and not a Steve McClaren?

This is the big issue we face.

Let me go ahead and answer that right now for you: no.

It's so bloody simple man.

These younger head coach types, should be the easiest to get considering the profile of the club.

We are again seeing Vieira, Gattuso and even Van Bronckhorst being linked and said to be interested, and these fit that mould.

It would be so crazy if we see someone like Monk come in.

How many times can they possibly screw this up for goodness sake.

“Signing players Benítez wasn’t keen on”

Fucking arseholes.  One of the key qualities Rafa looked for was a players character, their attitude and willingness to work for the team. Honestly, I can’t wait to see this shit show unfold and crumble.  Hope we get relegated miserably and stay down while Ashley is here

We know we will end up with some scrap heap manager or someone totally out of their depth, so we can instantly remove 10-15 points that Rafa's carefully squad management brought us over a season.  I can honestly see relegation happening.

There is one constant in the managers Ashley has employed and that is experience. He won't go for a younger manager, rather he'll fall into the trap of seeing someone who has been sacked 6 times as having the right experience in the game.

All managers worth their salt have ambition. Ambition that Ashley will not match or tolerate. Eventually it all blows up.

All he wants is another Pardew. Someone to toe the line and scrape by with minimal investment.

In as much as I believe they're "willing to spend" I also believe it's only to lure someone in with the expectation of going back to spending nowt as soon as possible.

Guest The Little Waster

Expect to see a couple of big sales ( Longstaff , Almiron , maybe ) so the dumb ' fans ' can play the " who are we going to get in with all that £££ ? game ... then its the old we tried but there wasn't enough time and Ashleys pocketed a few more million

Longstaff, Almiron and Perez will probably bring in north of £60 million add that to our current budget of £50 million and that's almost £20 million we will take all summer to spend then run out of time and save it for the winter window.

Hopefully we do spunk a load of money on some fucker Rafa didn’t want, only for Colback to come back and break his leg in training. Would just add to the comedy value of this coming season.

We knew Hayden was going, Fernandez is good but a back-up and not that bothered about Dubravka.

Schar would be a shame, though.

Surprised people bother to post in this thread and the new manager thread. Who the fuck gives a fucking fuck. Snooze until Ashley die, come back and hope for the best.

Notwithstanding I'm thick as mince but been seeing Almiron as costing us £21m?

I thought it was £17m, is that an Ashley made up with wages etc etc figure?

It's £17m, rising to £21 if certain clauses are met.

That figure is used because it sounds a lot better than "Ashley SMASHES transfer record with £17m Almiron. An astonishing £200,000 more than their previous record of £16.8m for Michael Owen nearly 14 year ago".

Yeah man, let's sell half of what is an already depleted squad.
