Who's making a bid if we have no manager

Ashley is reverting NUFC back to the pre-Rafa model of buying players and giving them to the 'head coach'. Their job is then to make the player impress so the player can then be sold on at a profit. We're back to being a stepping stone club. Do well at NUFC and you'll be sold on to a better club.

Aye Rafa's quote about Newcastle no longer being a stepping stone for players rings hollow now.

Yup. It's a different approach, but it's one that can work if it is done correctly. With a good head coach as the most important factor, one that actually relishes improving these types of players and getting the best out of them.

The team will also then need to continue to re-invest money from players sold on for big profits and it can slowly grow into a deeper more quality squad and team.

Tottenham essentially grew this way. They have Levy though, and we're stuck with Ashley.

We're not doing it the Tottenham way though, we're doing it the Newcastle way. Bid 20m for a 35m player, get knocked back, sign Joselu on deadline day instead.

Ummm ... yeah. That's pretty much what I said in my post.

That Scotch Egg with the yellow tie on Sky Sports News will have a field day on transfer deadline day watching Kevin Nolan mop up the last of the free signings and 3rd division Frenchies

I think we need a transfer counter in and out at the top of this thread, we started the summer with £50 million so.

From the Chronicle:

“Sources say the mood is positive and players have returned looking forward to a 2nd chance at the club after being frozen out/sent on loan. Lazaar, Gayle, Aarons, Elliot, Colback told they have a clean slate.”

Happy Colback is back. Buzzing for the new season.

Gayle is the only one of them that should get a sniff of Premier League football and that's only because we're desperate.

Jesus I cannot stand Colback. The thought of him worming his way back in sickens me and will be the perfect example of how we will regress without Rafa. Also you just know there will be fans loving it seeing a local boy come back into the fold. Fuck off.

Problem being you couldn't construct an average Premier league player from all of their 'best' attributes. A couple of them may be handy next year though.

So Charnley makes the final call on who to sign on recommendations of Scouting team???

Charnley bungles his way through nicksons recommendation list and the first deal he gets to that doesn't fall through wins. Obviously the top 5 are ruled out for cost, insultingly low gesture bid aside.

On the plus side, if a paper like that hasn’t got a clue what a basket case of a club we are, there’s hope some genius from Serie A might come in as manager if Ashley goes.
