Yes it’s a shame she hasn’t made it for her hometown club, and I was willing her on myself, but since she has been released he has posted nothing but negatively about the women’s set up. The situation has even changed since Daisy was released, the women’s team has a new DOF, and it’s clear that the woman’s team features greatly in the clubs overall plans. At the end of the day the club has recently achieved multiple promotions. We have probably got further than where we anticipated, hence why we still train at what is a public facility, and why our summer signings look to have been disappointing, because if we did slightly better, we could have achieved promotion. Yeah, very strange assuming there was no niggle in the final few weeks. Was part of the men's cup win celebrations at the Town Moor in mid March, this below report on April 10th, but then misses the matches on April 13th, 20th, 27th and May 4th, and then released barely 3 weeks later, Possibly a 'rival' thing, but barely any mention of Newcastle in that Durham interview as well, which did seem notable. Seems a decent move for her given Durham actually did finish higher than Newcastle last season. Gets to stay in the same league, and won't really need move house if she was settled. stozo Posted July 9, 2025 Share Posted July 9, 2025 It's obviously harder to judge new signings in the women's game given we see far less of other teams but this feels a bit of 'Hmmmm' signing. Southampton finished 13 points behind us last season, so signing a full back from there doesn't feel like the start of a 'We're going to smash the league this season' approach. Cclay Posted July 9, 2025 Share Posted July 9, 2025 (edited) Just from YouTube videos, seems to (mostly) play left (i.e. Stokes's position), is left-footed (but can use the right), a decent crosser and takes a lot of decent dead-balls. Well see, but gives us threat from the left. That said, for that to be of any use, we need to solve our problem with scoring from balls into the box . Their record in Europe is that they fall down as soon as they come across one of the well known women’s teams, Lyon, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. They seem to have a ceiling which is where we want to be next year. If the club were to put the money in required to get a lioness, then she’s probably one of the more realistic ones to be honest. Sarina has always said she wouldnt select people from the championship as the standard of football isn't good enough at the moment, so that wont happen.
