toontownman
Big steps in the right direction. Just added a bunch unto the women's teams value for when we sell them lol Hopefully some more player announcements later this week too! Edit: Courtney Vacher has been at the club a while in charge of the reserves, so just a different job title. https://www.newcastleunited.com/en/news/womens-development-team-lift-fawnl-reserve-plate Edited July 23, 2025 by toontownman

JT24
conspiracy theory hat on here, do you think they are purposefully trying to make the crest look poor quality in these?
JT24
TIL they need a natural grass playing field. Edited July 25, 2025 by JT24

Ah that's a shame (for me) I was thinking I'd go to a few games at KP (staying there for a bit). Gateshead stadium was a shocking place to watch football last time I went. Didn't realise KP is fake grass these days. Edited July 25, 2025 by Superior Acuña
Magpie
Hoping we might buy GIS and redevelop it. Although we can't seem to buy fucking anything at the moment.
iklgizmo
Weird that they've just announced it now. Surely if the rule is games have to be on grass this season, they've known about this for a while! Will kill any chance of building atmosphere at games!
Dr.Spaceman
The GIS is awful for watching football but it's just down the road from me, might get take my son to a few games this season once I've bought him a few more layers of thermals. It was actually voted the worst matchday experience in the UK Does athletics still happen there anymore? If not they may as well rip the whole place up and start again, build a proper relationship between the two clubs and Wrexham the fuck out of the lower leagues. An extra 10 million per year on a "TV" deal from someone like Apple would be canny. Edited July 25, 2025 by Dr.Spaceman
Fenham Mag
A bit of a farce they need to move to Gateshead like, doesn't inspire confidence in whoever is running the show.
maybe_next_year
Shame, its such a dreadful place to watch to watch football.

Knowing the council is struggling for money and would listen to offers then something could be in the works for a PSR flip once in the WSL. What a mess PSR is man

Gateshead stadium closer as the crow flies, by car, and by metro to SJP than Kinky P is. Ignoring council drawn lines they are moving closer to the heart of Tyneside. Surely if the rule is games have to be on grass this season, they've known about this for a while! Will kill any chance of building atmosphere at games! Their explanation (for what it's worth) - Why has this been announced so close to the start of the season? We understand the timing of this announcement may feel sudden. However, we’ve been carefully exploring venue options for some time, and Gateshead Stadium has only recently become a confirmed opportunity. As soon as the decision was finalised, we shared the news to ensure our supporters had the information they need to plan for the upcoming season. Our priority is always to keep you informed and involved, and we appreciate your continued support as we take this exciting step forward.

I’d imagine that they want a stadium adjacent to the training facilities. There is no chance long term they will want SJP/new stadium, the training ground/academy, and a stadium elsewhere. A lot of teams are moving into their men’s team stadium as well, Arsenal next year are playing all their games at the Emirates. I think long term the choice will be between a stadium at the new training ground, which will double up for the academy teams, or using the new stadium for the woman’s teams.
