According to their report, they controlled the game in that half ... but went behind. Second half was more of their second team. Given that they got the goal scorer wrong, I'm not sure if some 'sour grapes' aren't in that report. Nevermind, our report on it will be 'might mag lasses smash Bayern', so they can do what they want. Never-the-less, as someone else said, I expected a loss ... so all good. Paullow Posted July 26, 2025 Share Posted July 26, 2025 Yeah, the had 7 players with Germany, 3 with Sweden, Stanway, and then 1 with Norway and 1 with Italy, all who made the knockout stages of the Euros. The report does say that 15 players from the reserves were in the squad, and very few included in the line up(s) on the match report are on Bayern's wiki squad page. So on that basis, it's hard to tell if Newcastle were actually expected to win or not, and as others say, not a reflection of where they are, but good to get a win all the same. I suppose now's not the time to mention that spending a whole lot of time shooting at anything but the goal hasn't, yet, been addressed (especially after the one deal that would have gone some of the way fell through).
