Kanji Posted January 10, 2022 Share Posted January 10, 2022 We've clearly sounded Botman out for a while, it's been reported pre-window by Orenstein and the Athletic and also likely that pre-window we learned that he'd be keen to join and we were waiting for Lille to be open to negotiate a sale. If it was as easy as negotiating everything to go through on Jan 1 then deals would happen like that all the time - but they don't. Because some teams literally don't need the money, want the money, want to sell, care to sell, or will try and squeeze out every last penny and sell the player on deadline day.
