Don't think we have scored a goal with a back 5 for what feels like about ten games now

Gotta be Botman and Burn in a 4 next week. Not arsed if they're both left footed

Could definitely see him sticking with the back 5 against Arsenal. Not least to counter their set piece threat.

He managed to find ways to threaten them playing it last season, albeit with a different striker.

Sounds like him and his agent have been kicking off about game time. Rightly so really.

What makes you say that? Not that I'm surprised - he went to see Eddie after he didn't start his first couple of games back in 22/23 to express his thoughts, he's not shy about that.

It's a difficult one to manage. Burn is such a big character for the club, in the dressing room and playing the best football of his career. Botman is the future and is probably in all honesty a better player than Burn. It's been fine up until now due to Botmans injury problems, but now that he has proven his fitness by being injury free for some time I'm glad it isn't me having to do the selection. I felt subbing Botman on against Barca smacked of pleasing Botman rather than making the sub to get something from the game. Maybe to some extent using a back 5 against Leeds and Bournemouth (B'mouth game less so) too.

I don't think it was a coincidence he was linked to Leverkusen at the end of August and then all of a sudden he was starting for us against Leeds

Looks clear to me that he's told Eddie he needs to be playing or he'll leave

We need to make sure that Botman is happy here, but playing 5 at the back against Leeds to please him and drawing as a results would be a bit silly.

Yeah, I put it more down to my conspiratorial brain rot since I cannot for the life of me understand why we would play 5 at the back against a newly promoted team.

I wouldn’t mind starting any two of our four CBs really. But assuming Botman can stay healthy, I think it makes sense to have him replace Schar as first choice this season. Better to transition too early rather than too late, and I don’t want to be put in the position where we have to spend money on a Schar/Burn replacement once they’re actually too old because Botman becomes unhappy and leaves.

Same goes for Thiaw but we have a little more time to ease him in since he’s just joined.

Think it’s a positive sign personally. They’d only play him if they were confident that the performance data suggested he’d be fine

It'd be less impressive for him not to be able to start two games in a couple of days because of his injury record.

Maybe its because he's at the stage of needing minutes in his legs or maybe its to develop the CB pairing/partnership he's 8/9 years younger than Burn we need to rely on him a bit more as we need to be sure about offering his next contract and BDB won't be here forever (sad thinking about the end of the schar/burn era).

Bradford game not finished but looks like another clean sheet and 90 mins in his legs and been steady as can be, same as vs Bournemouth. Good shit.

Edit: My bad
