andycap
Couple of poor games from the lad poditionally and with his distribution of the ball. Not sure if it's to do with worrying about burns mopping up or just an off game.
Magpie Mover
I think if we had a fit LB, Sven would be on the bench with Burn starting.

Tin hat time, but I think on actual form, at present he is probably our 4th choice centre back.

Yeah I genuinely don't understand this criticism tbh. He definitely shouldn't be on the bench anytime soon anyway, outside of rest/rotation etc and assuming he's healthy. aussiemag
The knee jerk reaction to players having one poor moment and needing to be dropped is getting tiresome. He has been excellent since his return to the team.
robbo_11
You can tell him and Thiaw are getting to know each other better. A few moments where you could see them switch positions to either cover a Fulham runner or to look to get an early interception in. A few moments yesterday where he could have done better, but a few players looked to force the ball a bit too much resulting in errors. Overall he had an average game, but you could argue at CB they only really get the credit when the team has an off day and their performance stands out such as Thiaw yesterday. andycap
Who said anything about dropping him? 😂 Against brighton hes caught out of position for weklecks first then yesterday was giving the ball away nearly everytime he had it.
buzza
No way we would drop Botman for Burn if all defenders fit, his passing range and speed are two facets we have lacked. I haven't seen these bad plays others are seeing, BDB is also a great centre back but we should realistically be playing Burn and schar for some games and botman/chiaw for others. I would go for the Botman chiaw combo for champs league and fast orem league teams. Other two for slower strikers and cups

Apart from one misplaced pass yesterday, I can’t remember anything else he done wrong? Burn was at fault for the goal, what am I missing?

Dispossessed 0 times and made 23/26 passes yesterday. Can see how that might equate to giving the ball away nearly every time. He's clearly actively instructed to make high risk, line breaking passes. Not all will come off but the pro's significantly outweigh the cons for him. He's first choice cb for me, with Thiaw's excellent start for us beginning to nail him down as the other first choice.
kingxlnc
When Botman was first rumoured to be signing, back in 2022, it was thought he was a LCB who could cover at LB. Given he's pacier than Burn (not saying much) and a great passer - could we not go Burn at CB and Botman at LB? Gotta be better than the other way around

Maggies
Can’t wait to see a Tino - Thiaw - Botman - Hall defence. If it’s as good as hoped then that could be our defence for 3 or 4 years.

From .com's match report: Eddie Howe: On Sven Botman: "I think he's OK, yes. There was no concussion. It was a cut, but a very good decision from the on-field physio to recommend I take him off." Sure I saw a Tweet yesterday that it wasn't concussion so no protocols to follow in that regard. Can't link to the source because I'm at work. Shouldn't be on here at all, I have so much to do... Whitley mag
Has he been as good as been made out recently? In my opinion no, looks cumbersome and lucky to have had Thiaw alongside him.
