I love Bruno but he’s not an attacking mid and he’s clearly most comfortable at the base (See Arsenal at home). I think we absolutely need another comfortable ball player who is more attacking and has multiple ways to create and score. But happy to agree to disagree. I would not spend anything more than that on him, though. We should wait it out and address our other positions before we go after him, in my opinion. STM Posted May 28, 2022 Share Posted May 28, 2022 In an odd way, signing Bruno has stopped us signing Paqueta. Midfield has almost gone to the back of the list because Bruno has come in and the rest of them have been performing, including the Brazilian tank that is Joelinton. It's a deal I could see revisted in January or next summer but I can't see us touching a CM for 40m when we have 4 other positions that need filled. Bruno is more of an off the ball first player who when he gets it can do positive stuff. We need someone who is always on the ball and does the positive stuff with it. Like Silva was at City. I haven’t seen enough of Bruno’s mate so I don’t know what kind of player he is other than he looks a player. I’d prefer a DCM first, however. Or as the 10 in a 4-2-3-1 (or obviously Bruno's role in a 4-3-3 with Bruno dropping back). I think he looks perfect but I feel like we'll be mainly looking to continue strengthening from the back while bringing in a couple of forwards or wingers. Not making a judgement on this thread or anyone like, and I'll exit forthwith, but I just never realized how the part of me that liked the offseason spectacle was unceremoniously chucked into the sea years ago. That being said, while I do agree with the sentiment that a few other positions needs to be filled first, I do think a central midfielder, either an offensive or defensive one depending on how we want Bruno to play, has to be a priority after RW and LB in my opinion. To take the team to the next level, as well as filling the holes at LB and RW, Shelvey needs to replaced. Howe has done well to improve him as much he has, but he's still extremely limited on and off the ball. He tends to take up similar positions to Bruno awell.
