How come the other Spanish teams aren't kicking off with La Liga over what Barcelona are doing spending wise? Are they just used to it now?

There would be riots on the streets if either of Real Madrid or Barca were wound up. I read an article a couple of years back saying that Spanish banks won’t force the closure of either club because their personal banking sections would just suffer mass withdrawals overnight.

With Barca it’s even more tricky. They are a symbol of Catalan, where they are typically supported by Catalan separates, where as Espanyol their local rivals are typically supported by remainers.

Iy would be political suicide for any sort of Spanish authority to wind up Barca.

Maxi Wilson Harrison

Really strong front three if that's it.

I sort of prefer Harrison to Diaby too. Diaby is very likely the better player but Harrison feels much more suited to Howe, especially considering Maxi won't be doing much dirty work.

Yeah that’s a very balanced front 3, on paper. Needs to sort out his consistency but the lad can really strike a ball (which is something Maxi could really do with improving).

Don’t see it though, unfortunately; Leeds will only sell for silly money.

I guess it's a bit old-fashioned but I've always thought that if you want your wingers to provide assists you have a right-footer on the right and a left-footer on the left. If you want goal scorers then it's the other way round. We need the latter.

I think that’s the idea if you’re playing 2 up top (having wingers to provide the delivery while your strikers crowd the box). With just one up front, you need that extra fret that inside forwards provide. Your width and delivery from wide areas will come from your full-backs.

Leeds fans seem fairly split, which I found surprising, but all seem to agree that he struggles for consistency and can be guilty of overdoing it when taking players on.

The stats don't lie in terms of his output though. I like him but wouldn't go anywhere near the £35m Leeds are asking for though, that's a price where you bring in someone from abroad who's another step higher than someone like Harrison.

I thought Leeds wouldn't even entertain it tbh but it sounds like the club are happy to sell players and also that Marsch is looking to essentially play a wingerless system - so may be more of a goer than we think.

I get the impression it's been basically lined up all summer but we've been exploring other options first like Diaby.

Didn’t Toney score even less goals than Mitrovic did in his first season? In open play that is. If so then why would Toney be considered good enough for us now when you think of the direction we aim to take. Might as well flush the money down the toilet instead of spending that much on a backup player. Get a young very very promising striker and then next summer go big if we can attract the top quality we need.

Wingerless ? They have just spent big on a LW from Feynoord

I’d be happy/content with Harrison as long as it’s not more than 25m. Would be a solid addition and mean that we can spend more money elsewhere. Say Paqueta or Nunes or Fofana. Also a young quality striker. For 25 he could  automatically become a very good squad player for next season too.

Yeah that's my initial thought.

He's a good player, for sure but towards the end of the window, possibilities will open up, I'd rather keep our powder dry.
