hakka Posted Friday at 20:51 Share Posted Friday at 20:51 No surprise someone with a surname of Wood would do well in a side that has Forest in the name.

Yeah and watch Wilson go on an uninjured 2 year streak scoring 20+ league goals per year! Just our luck that!

He did exactly what he was asked to do and did it well from what I remember. Then we bought one of the best strikers in the world so we sold him. No surprise to me he's still scoring in the PL in a more progressive role. Good on him for smashing them in so far this season. You’re a much better analyst than me if you’re not surprised that Wood is doing this well. I’m astounded That said, I backed us signing him so I never thought he was complete shit. Dr.Spaceman Posted Friday at 21:02 Share Posted Friday at 21:02 "Very well" is a bit of a stretch like. It just looked like we were asking him to do stuff he couldn't really do very well, like leave his position more than he is doing now and was doing at Burnley. Dandy Man Posted Friday at 21:05 Share Posted Friday at 21:05 I thought he was decent before we signed him, I was convinced he was not very good when he was here, I'm back to thinking he's decent again now

This well so far this season might be a stretch, but certainly still able to start and give a decent return in the PL. I think the frustrations people had of what he was (or wasn't) doing for us are clouding peoples judgement somewhat. I'm not saying he didn't have bad performances for us or miss chances he should have scored because he did, but to call him awful and look like he was finished is wild imo. Tonalis Bookie Posted Friday at 21:16 Share Posted Friday at 21:16 Showed what he was in his first half a season in the game against Southampton (a). Great header from an early cross, held the ball up to a decent manner and put a shift in that was invaluable. Missed a chance from what I remember but that was what CW was and is. Still a great bench option and better than the nothing we have now. However we dont cross the ball very well so I think he would be in the same scenario he was before
Crimson Cardigan Posted Friday at 21:19 Share Posted Friday at 21:19 Ok this Wood thing is getting beyond a joke now, it’s like NO may not be the fountain of football knowledge I assumed it was.
Decky Posted Friday at 21:20 Share Posted Friday at 21:20 Should have sold Wilson to Forest instead.

Nobody Posted Friday at 22:39 Share Posted Friday at 22:39 He's a decent 1 in 3/4 striker, his recent record is a bit like Almirons purple patch a couple of years ago. Fair play to him, seems a great bloke, but please stop scoring now mate.

I did and I wasn’t sad to see him go, but just because someone fails to perform playing for NUFC and their stats aren’t worthy of a wank doesn’t mean the player is fundamentally dogshit
Pilko Posted Friday at 23:22 Share Posted Friday at 23:22 He seems like a great guy and I'm genuinely buzzing to see him playing regularly and scoring for another side, he wouldn't have got the minutes here. Other than when we play Forest I hope he keeps firing them in and has another few years at the top level, he's proven he can score at a good rate in some pretty limited sides. Erikse Posted Friday at 23:33 Share Posted Friday at 23:33 (edited) He's scoring at an unusually high rate yes, might be his best 9 game patch even. But lets not forget that he has scored atleast 10 goals in 5 different seasons before, including 14 last season. I'd say Wellbecks recent scoring form is more of an outlier. I seen with my own eyes what he was like, backed up by his goal stats during and immediately before his time here, particularly in comparison to his previous seasons. Say you reckon the grass is green and someone will confidently assert that youre wrong on here. Edited Friday at 23:39 by Doctor Zaius
