Stifler
On the Wembley debate. I think it was a mistake to build it. For someone outside of London, or a considerable distance away, it is often cheaper to go abroad and watch a game there then it is to travel to London for the night. On top of this the whole, it being in London just typifies the attitude of this country, where nothing matters unless it’s London. You are either in it, want to be in it, or aren’t a part of it, save for the token gestures thrown to Manchester (which is now the whole North). The stadium was built on debt when the FA could have and should have just used their money for giving ground updates to clubs to increase their facilities. Most countries are fine having domestic cups and the national team plying around the country, in fact in recent years we have done the exact same thing against smaller nations in medium sized stadiums. We have got to the point now where football events have had to be rescheduled in place of other events to be hosted at Wembley, in order for Wembley to pay it’s own cost off. Izakaya
I guess their hands were tied really. The old Wembley was crumbling to a point where it was on the verge of becoming unsafe.
huss9
yeah, there does seem to be a unique craving in this country for a national stadium to exist. is there one anywhere else in the world? Hamden is now, but it used to be a club ground.
Sima
Fergie is the GOAT as far as managers go, like. Has Guardiola even had to rebuild a squad yet? Normally fucks off before he has to do that iirc. Fergie built three or four dominant teams at Man Utd alone. Edited April 16, 2022 by Sima
Geordie Ahmed
Whilst he hasn't done a rebuild the way Fergie did (several times) he's managed to ensure City remain competitive despite losing Kompany, Yaya, Silva and Aguero (arguably the greatest 4 players in their history). The squad is in such a solid position that it only needs small tweaks each season (they are a striker short), even if Pep moves on, the next guy won't have to do a huge amount to the squad. Wolfcastle
Burnley have Southampton at home next, perfect for them. They've got a great run in, I've put them down for lot of points, not saying panic and of course that might not happen and things could turn around today but some people's over-confidence when it can easily term disturbs me in this pressure.
