Something seriously wrong with Liverpool. Feels like their side lacks midfield presence, and that new contract for Salah looks like it's weighing heavy.

The lads I know that support them. Say Thiago is their most important player and they are so much worse without him. So I guess it’s also why they can struggle when it matters. As you can’t build your team around someone that is injured for a third of every season.

Nunez has Andy Carroll written all over him for them, they are a shadow of themselves right now and RAWK is glorious reading this evening [emoji38]

Bloke's a joke.

That was more on the rest of the defense tbh. He’s got to worry about the guy out wide left too, whereas there are four or five other defenders in the box marking one guy. One of those in the middle should have stepped across to cover for the through ball.

Aye, it’s just awful, non committal defending. Other than Diaz, VVD, most of Liverpool were very pedestrian.

Liverpool concede a goal where the Napoli attacker kicks the ball to the right, runs past TAA from the left - as in kicks it round him.. you know what... just watch this:

He's not even in the box when the goal is scored. He gets pasted and doesn't even try to run back.

It happened again in the second half, he paused, then suddenly remembered that he got bollocked for not running back in the first half and then he put in a mini sprint.

He defends like a 10 year old. Like he's Mesut Ozil or Rui Costa filling in. Genuinely think Cristiano would put in more effort in that scenario.

That’s Gomez out wide, I think. Trent is stood on the edge of the box. Loafing about and just watching like a half interested bystander

It's getting a bit lost amidst all the "Lewandowski is a goal machine" stories, but Dembelé is having the best run of form since he joined us. 5 goals/assists in 5 games.  His rapport with Lewandowski is pretty great, they have clicked instantly.

Regarding all the "they can win the CL" talk, we'll see how we do against Bayern.

VVD was bad too.

He wasn’t as bad as those around him, he saved a goal, created some chances from set pieces, but definitely wasn’t as good as he can be.

Was a joy watching Napoli carve Liverpool’s defence wide open.

Dembelé’s crosses were exceptional, he looks reinvigorated.

Just caught up with the highlights, man alive, one for Joe Gomez to forget. I have never thought he was a high-class defender, was always surprised when he was in and around the England team.

Gomez has everything to be a top defender, but he wasn't smart enough to leave and go somewhere to play every week, and so it will continue to be this way everytime he comes into the team for them.

Someone like Tosin Adarabioyo at Man City was getting the odd game here and there too, and so chose to go to Fulham, and he has benefitted massively from it. Really establishing himself as a defender now.

Gomez was massively exposed last night and I’ve noticed how far left the gap is with VVD between him whoever he plays next too, huge spaces between and in and behind, that and TAA and Robertson play so high up. It’s basically a two man defence with their ‘keeper the 3rd man on the sweep. I’ve said for ages the key to success against Liverpool is to force them narrow down the flanks because they have no creativity and pace in CM and press their ‘keeper because he only really has VVD to play out too and if that’s not on TAA and Robertson are forced back, keeping their high line deeper.
