Captain Steak Bakes (now managing Blackpool/revising history)

I know I’m being a right pedant but that’s not a direct quote. He did imply this though and said plenty of unpleasant things about Rafa too.

Bruce did recommend Howe though apparently. So we should really be thanking him as the main reason we won the Carabao Cup.

It's very close to what he was quoted as saying:

"Steve Bruce was on the warpath. “It is absolutely the biggest pile of shite I have ever heard,” the Newcastle United head coach said, adding a coating of characteristic indiscretion. It was January 2021 and his team were in the midst of a winless run which eventually stretched to 11 matches and Tyneside was bubbling with rumour; that Bruce had three games to save his job, that Eddie Howe was among the candidates to replace him. Bruce lasered in on one publication. “I give respect,” he said. “When I see polls, the next manager and the fella from Bournemouth, I find it disrespectful, I have to tell you. Your paper was gunning for a manager that got a team relegated last year.” The reality of Mike Ashley’s ownership and its glass ceiling was hitting home. “Am I alone with the managers at Newcastle over the last 15 years? Hasn’t every manager been in exactly the same situation?” Bruce asked. Bruce was angry — Newcastle was an angry place back then, everybody barricaded into opposing camps and sniping at each other — but it was an interesting definition of giving respect. “The fella from Bournemouth” and “a manager that got a team relegated last year,” felt dismissive of Howe, who had done nothing wrong, and needlessly belittling, a sour interpretation of a lifetime’s relationship and years of overachievement."

I remember listening to that and thinking Agbonlahor is the thickest cunt on radio/TV. An uneducated moron who, if he hadn't been a footballer, would be begging for change in The Bullring. An odious, carbuncle of a bloke. Of course he gets a gig with TalkSport. They're mostly fkn dickheads. With Alan Brazil as their king.

Gabby is one of those people that pronounce England as "EnGERland". Always irritates me

Seems talksport have gone all out today, counted 3 video thumbnails on youtube defending their little buddy. Not that i'll be watching any of them, but it's so obvious what they are doing as it was his entire time here.

Think that's what grates the most, we could all see with our own eyes how awful he was as a manager, as we did before with Pardew. But to be gaslit constantly and be told we're wrong and he's a great guy and "one of the best mangers of all time" or some shite that Arteta came out with after he was so horrifically let go with a £8m pay out while he'd overseen us sat 19th in the Premier League table with just three points and no wins.

Meanwhile we have had Eddie Howe getting called a "gate keeper" and loads of media were questioning his future during that horrific injury crisis last season while he's overseen keeping us up and finishing 11 despite Bruce's awful start in year 1, a cup final and champions league finish in year 2, 7th despite the horrendous injuries and suspensions and 2 decent cup runs in year 3 and a first domestic trophy in 70 years and a chance to qualify CL in year 4.

Make it make sense.

Agbonlahor is literally just one of those daft cunts that says controversial stuff on TalkSport to keep people talking about him. They have a character like that on nearly every show on there, the worst being Troy Deeney who is so transparent in his attempts to do it (see his latest waffle on how Salah isn't world-class).

I like how Bruces response just escalated it, meaning Gayles comments are getting more coverage thanks to that. Let everyone hear what Gayle said, thanks. I'm seeing a shift in the comments from what they usually were like in videos regarding Bruce, when people hear what Gayle was saying, the know that it's not like he would make it all up.

100% convinced he only got the West Brom job on the fumes of the very prevelant narrative that he'd done a great job here and the 'demanding Geordie' narrative.

Absolutely.  It boils my piss far more than it should how he keeps getting hired repeatedly.  I go back to the long list of places he's been a manager and ask myself how many of those fans think fondly of his time in charge of their clubs.  This so called champions of him in the media must ask themselves... is he really as bad as (more and more) folk say he is or him must the unluckiest cunt alive with his job postings.

It's as if I had been married and divorced half a dozen times and folk are saying "oh, he's just unlucky in love"... nawh.. how about I'm just a shite husband (p.s. I'm really not by the way, just ask my wife, she's in the kitchen ;)).

I've said before the reason for Bruce getting so much slack in the press...

Apparently when he was Man U captain he used to throw infamous house parties for his teammates, was always seen as one of the main lads.

He's one of those blokes whod instantly offer you a pint so you'd like him.

The generation of pundits we have had recently where almost entirely made up of players from his era who liked "Brucey", one of the lads innit.

Whatever a cuntish manager he is, he clearly had the ability to befriend people. He's a social person. That's why we get these outbursts, he can't stand people being critical of him.

"Me, lager. Finchy, Lager. Gareth, lager sometimes cider, so different drinks for different... needs."

We might be where Blackpool are now if it hadn't been for the takeover and Bruce going.

Tbf it's not beyond possible that we might have stayed up if we just did the latter. Depending on who came in like 😂😂😂

But reluctant Ashley would have not taken action until April

We were going down in 21/22 without Howe & the buyout, deffo

Without a doubt - we were down the season before until Jones arrived and Willock went on that crazy run!
