They have had a great off season of signings. If they gel they will stay up no worries. They will soon find themselves in Forest PSR territory though.

They have bought a load of £20m players, I don’t any of them have Premier League experience apart from Xhaka. It’s massive gamble that is doubtful to pay off.

They'll be hoping 1 or 2 are huge hits they can try and double their money on. If they flop though, those players won't go back to Europe for the fees they cost even if they're relatively cheap for the PL.

Huge litmus test for them tomorrow. They need the team to gel ASAP, and even then, with so many signings from abroad they want to hope they adjust quickly.

We saw tonight with Wirtz, you can be the bell of the ball in another league, but adjusting to a new culture can take some time, and that's before you include the manager in that, who's never been at this level.

Every player in that West Ham team would be the best player Sunderland have had for a decade at least. A few of them the best for # few generations (Bowen, Paqueta aren't world beaters but would comfortably be the best these have had in my life time).

Reminds me of us in 2015 tbh.

Buy a bunch of young "wonderkids" with little to no seasoning and no cohesive plan, at prices that might have been impressive five seasons earlier but in reality are now on the cheaper end of the scale for top end talent.

Yeah, that's a fair shout.

I just think the pressure of it will define a few, and if they don't start well it'll be interesting to see how the fans react. They could also fly out the traps and do well. To your point, after the initial adrenaline dump what happens?

I think they'll get something today. Can't be missed how shit Potter is and they've lost Kudus.

Bowen, Paqueta, Fullkrug, Wan-Bissaka, Walker-Peters. Sunderland could only dream to have half a team like that, and these will finish mid-table at best. I'd be surprised if West Ham don't win by 2 or more.

Had to turn the radio off listening to Radio Newcastle's Sunderland lad waxing lyrical about the full press room at the SoS, "they all want a piece of Sunderland now, nobody was interested for the last eight years". There's still nobody interested man, they're just obliged to cover this league

Judus. As it said on the flag some lads had outside the spit and vomit.
